Economiste, homme politique originaire de Châtellerault, député à la Convention, membre de l'Institut, Creuze-Latouche siégea à la Constituante et à la Convention, fut nommé au comité de Salut public après le 9 thermidor puis au conseil des Cinq-Cents. Bilan des premières années de la Révolution et profession de foi politique, philosophique et antireligieuse. L'auteur critique l'institution catholique en France depuis ses origines, dénonce son intransigeance, les abus et "perversions" des prêtres et du haut clergé et l'utilisation des superstitions comme moyen d'oppression. De larges passages sont consacrés à la question des protestants en France. (Martin & Walter, I, 8666). Bon exemplaire, très frais, grand de marges.‎

‎Some Features of Prison Discipline Read Before the Baltimore Prison Congress December 5th 1892‎

‎Baltimore: Shaw Bros. Print 1892. First Edition. Small 12mo 15.5cm.; publisher's olive printed wrappers; 19pp. Previous owner has stitched the wrappers to textblock though the upper cover has since separated the stock rather brittle from age and poor quality with a few tiny chips and shallow losses along extremities. Still a Good unfaded copy contents in fine condition. Paper read by the Warden of the Western State Penitentiary in Pennsylvania. This printed version appears to be unrecorded though we do find mention of it in an issue of The Journal of Prison Discipline and Philanthropy from the same year. Wright blames the increase in crime in the United States to the arrival of "unworthy and undesirable immigrants" and argues that the answer is "sterner and more repressive lines" in prison discipline as a deterrant. ‎Edition princeps de la célèbre autobiographie testamentaire d'Uriel da Costa: "Exemplar humanae vitae" ("Une vie humaine"), composée à la veille de son suicide en 1640 et publiée "presque par hasard" (Daniel Lacerda) quarante-sept années après sa mort. Elle est insérée dans un recueil qu'un ministre calviniste arminien, Philip Van Limborch professeur à Amsterdam (1633-1712), consacre à la défense de la "vérité de la religion chrétienne", en discussion avec un Juif érudit, Isaac Orobio de Castro (c.1617-1687), lui-même réfugié du Portugal à Amsterdam. Né au sein d'une famille portugaise marrane, Uriel Da Costa (1585-1640) s'installa à Amsterdam en 1617 et retourna au judaïsme, mais il entra bientôt en conflit avec la synagogue. ‎Jean Daillé, né à Châtellerault le 6 janvier 1594 et mort le 15 avril 1670, est un pasteur et théologien français, considéré comme l'un des plus grands défenseurs des Églises réformées de son temps.Il est précepteur des deux petits-fils de Philippe Duplessis-Mornay et fait avec eux plusieurs voyages dans différentes parties de l'Europe en 1612.
