"Es dürfte wohl als erwiesen angesehen werden daß die Spektra der isotopen Bleisorten mit verschiedenem Atomgewicht im Sichtbaren und im Ultraviolett eine sehr weitgehende Übereinstimmung aufweisen. Etwa bestehende Unterschiede können nur noch in sehr kleinen Differenzen der Wellenlängen der Linien und in ihrer Intensität liegen. Während die Erweiterung und Festlegung des Grades dieser Übereinstimmung weiteren Untersuchungen vorbehalten werden muß kann man schon jetzt als sicher annehmen daß die Eigenschaften Schwingungszahl lonisierungsspannung Abstand vom Atommittelpunkt usw. der äußeren Elektronen in Atomen isotoper Elemente sehr nahe gleich sein müssen. Dies scheint im gewissen Grade auch für einen Teil der inneren Elektronen zu gelten mit deren Schwingungen man neuerdings die Entstehung der charakteristischen Röntgenstrahlen in Zusammenhang bringt. Denn wie E. Rutherford und E. da C. Andrade zeigten stimmen die Wellenlängen einiger Linien des y-Strahlenspektrums des Radiums B Glied der Bleiplejade mit den Wellenlängen der im Blei erzeugten bzw. mit den aus den Moseleysehen Beziehungen für Blei extrapolierten charakteristischen Röntgenstrahlen der L- und K-Serie überein. Allerdings ist hier die Übereinstimmung wegen der Schwierigkeiten der Messung und der Unsicherheit der Extrapolation nur bis auf einige Prozente sichergestellt." Fajans Kasimir Fajans auch Kazimierz Fajans 1887-1975 polnisch-deutsch-amerikanischer Physikochemiker; entdeckte 1913 gleichzeitig mit Frederick Soddy das Verschiebungsgesetz. Im gleichen Jahr isolierte er mit Oswald Helmuth Göhring aus Uran eine 12-Minuten Aktivität UX2 die er als neues Element Brevium nannte. Die heutige Bezeichnung ist das Isotop mit der Massenzahl 234 des Elementes Protactinium. Als Verfahren der quantitativen Analyse entwickelte er ab 1922 die Verwendung von Adsorptionsindikatoren bei der Titration; das Verfahren wird nach dem Entdecker Titration nach Fajans genannt. A solution of uranium X was placed in a lead dish with the expectation that "ekatantalum" is more thorium less noble than lead. In fact radioactive material was formed on the surface of the lead dish and its ß- activity decayed with the previously not known half life 1.1 min. Its chemical nature was further confirmed by its coprecipitation from solution with hydrous tantalumV oxide.
