‎Caricature originale d’Édouard Herriot (1932). [Signatures et envois conjoints de l'artiste et de l'homme politique]‎

‎Dessin original au fusain (27,5x21cm), contrecollé sur carton (37,5x29cm), signé et justifié de l'artiste, avec un envoi à Herriot ("E.Villon 1932 Sympathique souvenir") représentant l'homme politique Édouard Herriot en 1932. On y voit Herriot dans une position physique caractéristique, ventripotent, fumant la pipe (accessoire préféré de ce fumeur invétéré, au point que Sennep l'avait affublé du nom de "Fühmer" en référence à ce qui se passait en parallèle en Allemagne, Hitler prenant le pouvoir l'année suivante en 1933), la main s'agitant comme dans ses discours, chaussés de souliers à guêtres, regardant attentivement le chiffre 1932 qui brille à ses pieds (la date de 1932 sonne le retour d'Herriot au pouvoir après des élections marquant une poussée vers la Gauche). Le dessin est contrecollé sur carton, lequel comporte un envoi calligraphié à la plume d’Édouard Herriot à ses amis Huc (sans doute après le décès d'Arthur Huc en mars 1932) : "A mes amis Huc Cordialement Herriot". Arthur Huc avait été à la fois une autorité doctrinale et politique pendant 40 ans, doublée d'un journaliste exigeant au quotidien "La Dépêche" qu'il avait dirigé dès 1894, devenant par la suite l'un des principaux actionnaires, tout en maintenant sa vocation de journal d'idées. Il était de plus un critique d’art éclairé, mettant l'accent sur des artistes peu reconnus à l'époque, tels Toulouse-Lautrec. [BE]‎

‎Homme incontournable de la scène politique de la 3e République, maire de Lyon, sénateur, ministre, président du Parti radical, président de la Chambre des Députés, président de l'Assemblée nationale, président du Conseil des Ministres, Herriot (1872-1957) revient au pouvoir quelques mois, de juin à décembre 1932, après des élections législatives favorables à la Gauche.‎
