‎Le sarcophage de Balazuc est un sarcophage paléochrétien, en marbre blanc, découvert au XVIe siècle au lieu-dit les Salles sur la commune de Balazuc (Ardèche). C'est une oeuvre de l'école d'Arles du IVe siècle. Aprés être resté longtemps dans l'église de Saint Maurice d'Ardèche, il a été transféré en 1851 au musée gallo-romain de Lyon. Un moulage est visible à la mairie du village de Balazuc. Ce sarcophage serait celui de l'évêque d'Alba. L'abbé Martigny, archéologue, né à Sauverny dans l'ain, curé de Bagé le Chatel (Jura), mort à Belley.‎

Het cultureel en religieus erfgoed van India, Sri Lanka, Nepal en Tibet weerspiegelt de weergaloze kwaliteit die op het vlak van bronsgieten werd bereikt. Religies als het hindoe sme, het jainisme en het boeddhisme hebben deze kunstvorm aangewend om hun voorstellingen van goden en helden te vereeuwigen. De kunstenaars lieten zich leiden door gespecialiseerde handboeken met precieze voorschriften over iconografie en afmetingen. De was werd weggesmolten en in de plaats werd het brons gegoten. Het kunstwerk bleef op die wijze uniek. Soms werd het beeld ook gedreven of gehamerd in koperplaat, zilver of goud.‎

Issue de la Galerie des Enfans de Mars ou Collection des divers uniformes de tous les cors composant la ci-devant garde publié en 1811. Signée dans la planche en bas à droite "A PAris, chez Martinet, Libraire, rue du Coq n°13 et 15."« Cette collection, la plus importante de celles qui ont été publiées en France sur les troupes de Napoléon comprend des planches dont le numéro est gravé et d'autres dont le numéro a été mis à la main. Un exemplaire tiré sur grand papier figure à la Bibliothèque nationale sous le titre de Galerie des Enfans de Mars. La collection des troupes françaises de Martinet est la source à laquelle il faut toujours puiser, lorsqu'on veut avoir des renseignements exacts sur les tenues du Ier Empire, de 1807 à 1815. ‎Summary Hoards are among the most enigmatic of archaeological finds. The term 'hoard' itself has been applied to different assemblages across space and time, from the Stone Age into the modern era, with an inventory that typically includes artefacts made of valuable raw materials, to which significant symbolic meanings can also be assigned. Archaeologists have been trying to understand this phenomenon for much of the last century, sometimes emphasizing the universal nature of hoards, but more typically focusing on specific regions, chronologies, and finds. They have, for the most part, used results derived from typolo-chronological methods. Contemporary archaeology has, however, developed a broad spectrum of paradigms and methods, and hoardresearch in the twenty-first century draws on an increasingly wide range of approaches. This volume presents examples of research that make use of these multi-faceted approaches through a focus on European hoards of metal objects dating to the Bronze and Iron Ages. The contributors to this volume make use of diverse methods, among them archaeometallurgical analyses, studies of use- and production-wear, destruction patterns, and landscape archaeology, but together, their common denominator is the search for a methodological toolkit that will allow researchers to better understand the phenomenon of hoard-deposition more broadly.
