All 4 volumes are still in the original state and in the publisher's plain wrappers untrimmed each volume with a printed lettering-piece to spine; the spine panels are bit frayed this of the atlas is worn. As such rare complete set in the original state with exceptionally bright plates absolutely free of any spotting. ~ Bibliothèque Portative des Voyages X-XIII. Norden's "Voyage d'Égypte et de Nubie" was first published posthumously in 1755 by the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters. Norden who died in 1742 managed to see part of his work in print when he published in 1741 a pilot edition under the title "Drawings of Some Ruins and Colossal Statues at Thebes in Egypt". Complete set of this work in the very original state untrimmed and in publisher's wrappers is of utmost rarity so much so in the present excellent state of the interiors and plates. Hardcover, the text volumes are uniformly bound in contemporary half calf and marbled boards, spines with raised bands between compartments, direct gilt lettering and volume number, black fleurons in remainders, gilt ornamentation at head and foot, handsome marbled endpapers, joints of one spine neatly mended. In fine condition, bright interiors.
