‎Troisième édition de l'un des livres de voyage français les plus populaires de son époque. Villamont, chevalier de l'ordre de Jérusalem, quitta la Bretagne en juin 1588 ,pour rejoindre la Palestine . Après avoir visité l'Italie, il s'embarque à Venise en avril 1589 pour le pèlerinage en Terre Sainte ,via les îles de la mer Ionienne, le Péloponnèse, la Crète, Rhodes et Chypre, il arrive à Jaffa d'où il prend le chemin de pèlerinage de la Palestine et de la Syrie. Il visite également l'Égypte avant de retourner dans son pays 39 mois plus tard. L'ouvrage est divisé en 3 livres dévolus à l'Italie (1er livre), à la Turquie, Grèce et à Jérusalem (2e) et enfin à la Syrie et l'Égypte (3e). In fine se trouve un Abrège de la description de la France (8 pp.). Brunet V, 1225. RARE édition d'Arras , pirate , en effet l’auteur dénonce cette édition dans « L’autheur au lecteur» (verso titre , édition Paris 1598) .Paru pour la première fois en 1595, l'ouvrage fut réédité l'année suivante puis en 1598 (une autre éd. sous l'adresse de Paris, Claude de Monstr'oeil et Jean Richère) et jusqu'en 1626, dernier exemplaire vendu 3000€ aux enchères , pas dans Brunet ni Atabey .‎

Lefèvre et de 143 planches dont deux cartes., relié demi-veau époque , dos lisse avec titre et tomaison , coins usés ,frottements aux plats , frottements, coiffes usées et traces de réparations (atlas) , peu de rousseurs dans le texte .‎

‎Seconde édition , tiré à 150 exemplaires seulement , ici le n° 60, du chef d’oeuvre de Dominique Vivant Denon, l'atlas contient 143 planches ,sur chine, dessinées par l’auteur ,certaines planches contiennent plusieurs figures ; trois planches sont doubles et quatre sont repliées et quadruples. Les planches représentent aussi bien des sites que des combats, des portraits d'égyptiens, des textes, des bas-reliefs, elles furent dessinées quelquefois au péril de la vie de l'auteur. Très bel état des planches Vivant Denon (1747-1825) accompagna le général Bonaparte en Égypte en 1798. Il dessina les sites égyptiens sur place. Ce travaille révéla au monde l'extraordinaire richesse de l'Égypte et engendra une véritable égyptomania et un style "Retour d'Égypte". Vivant Denon fut ensuite directeur du Louvre. Il est considéré comme un grand précurseur de la muséologie, de l'histoire de l'art et de l'égyptologie. Second edition (1st 1802) of Denon's fundamental work on Egypt. The Atlas is composed of his portrait in frontispiece and 143 numb. engr. (incl. 20bis and 54bis) on chine appliqué pasted on 142 ff. (some fold. or on double page) representing monuments, city views, pyramids and temples, maps, hieroglyphs, etc. Fold. plate in vol. I of text with the transcription of a text in Greek (with its French translation). Issued in 150 numb. copies (n. 60)‎

‎Wyck reiste vor 1640 nach Italien; seitdem überwiegen in seinen Landschaftszeichnungen mit Architektur diejenigen mit italienischem Charakter. Italienische Häuser, Innenhöfe, römische Gebäude und Ruinen sind erfüllt von südlichem Licht, das Wyck mit schwarzer Kreide und Lavierung, im vorliegenden Blatt mit grauer Tusche, vortrefflich wiedergeben kann. Sein zeichnerisches Oeuvre ist verhältnismäßig groß und so ist er in vielen öffentlichen Sammlungen vertreten.‎
