From Wikipedia: "John Sheldon Doud Eisenhower born August 3 1922 is the son of President Dwight D. Eisenhower and his wife Mamie. He is a retired United States Army Brigadier General and the author of several books of military history. He served as the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium from 1969 to 1971. John Eisenhower was born on August 3 1922 in Denver Denver County Colorado to future U.S. President and United States Army General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower and his wife Mamie. John Eisenhower was the second child of Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower. Their first son Doud Dwight known affectionately as "Icky" died in 1921 at age 3 after contracting scarlet fever. John Eisenhower like his father attended the United States Military Academy graduating on June 6 1944 the day of the Normandy landings which his father was commanding. John Eisenhower served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War remaining on active duty until 1963; then serving in the U.S. Army Reserve until retirement in 1975 attaining the rank of brigadier general. A decorated soldier Eisenhower found his World War II military career thwarted by fears for his safety and concern from the top brass that his death or capture would be a distraction to his father the Supreme Allied Commander. This issue arose again in 1952 when Major Eisenhower was assigned to fight in a combat unit in Korea while his father ran for President. After a short stint in combat with an infantry battalion he was reassigned to the safety of division headquarters. In 2008 he wrote about this experience in an opinion piece in the New York Times entitled "Presidential Children Don t Belong in Battle". During his father's presidency John Eisenhower served as Assistant Staff Secretary in the White House on the Army's General Staff and in the White House as assistant to General Andrew Goodpaster. In the administration of President Richard Nixon who had been his father's Vice President he served as U.S. Ambassador to Belgium. In 1972 President Nixon appointed Eisenhower Chairman of the Interagency Classification Review Committee. In 1975 he served President Gerald Ford as chairman of the President's Advisory Committee on Refugees. As a military historian Eisenhower has written several of his books including The Bitter Woods a study of the Battle of the Bulge. In a New York Times review of So Far from God a history of the U.S. -Mexican War Stephen W. Sears remarked that Eisenhower "writes briskly and authoritatively and his judgments are worth reading." John Eisenhower wrote the foreword to Borrowed Soldiers a book by Mitchell Yockelson of the U.S. National Archives. Eisenhower also wrote the forward to Kenneth W. Rendell's book "Politics War and Personality: 50 Iconic Documents of World War II." The city of Marshfield Missouri chose Eisenhower as a 2008 honoree of the Edwin P. Hubble Medal of Initiative. Osborn."<br /> <br /> Bruce Barton 1886-1967 is considered by many to be one of the most influential advertising men of the 20th century. He was not your ordinary adman - religious author Congressman founder of the advertising agency BBDO creator of Betty Crocker. The interesting yet complicated life of this man illustrates the complexity of the creative mind. A mind that was not limited to one endeavor but found a way to apply similar skills and abilities to a multitude of opportunities. Despite all of his other accomplishments he is still remembered first and foremost as an adman. In a fictional novel based on BBDO The Virgin Queene the Bruce Barton character named Barnham Dunn tried to explain his success<br /> <br /> Alex F. Osborn was born in New York City May 241888 graduated Ph.B. in 1909 and Ph.M. in1921 at Hamilton College. Meanwhile he worked as a reporter for the Buffalo N.Y. Times in 1909 and for the Buffalo Express during the following two years. He was assistant secretary of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce in 1911-12 and sales manager of the Hard Manufacturing Co. Buffalo from 1912 to 1915. In the latter year he entered the field of advertising as manager of the E. P Remington Advertising Co. Buffalo. During World War I he worked as a volunteer for the United War Work campaign and there met another young writer Bruce Barton. He was married in Buffalo Sept. 51916 to Helen daughter of Edward Emerson Coatsworth of the city a lawyer and had five children: Katharine Joan Marion Russell Bartonand Elinor. n 1919 Alex Osborn found the advertising agency of Barton Durstine and Osborn New York City with Bruce Barton and Roy Durstine. In 1928 the firm was merged with the George Batten Co. to formBatten Barton Durstine & Osborn. Inc. A partner in the original firm Osborn was named vice-president of the newly merged agency. Advanced to executive vice-president and general manager in 1939 he became vice-chairman of the board in 1946. We come as conquerors but not as oppressors.We shall overthrow the Nazi rule dissolve the Nazi Party and abolish the cruel oppressive and discriminatory laws and institutions which the Party has created. We shall eradicate that German Militarism which has so often disrupted the peace of the world" <br /> <br /> In this edict Eisenhower suspends all German courts and educational institutions within the occupied territory and instructs all German officials employees and workers to remain at their posts until further notice. <br /> <br /> With Churchill and FDR's statements on "über Deutschlands Zukunft" "on Germany's future" on the verso. She acted under President Bill Clinton from 1997 to 2001 leading the United States through foreign policy in the Middle East with the endorsement of military action in Iraq. At the 1998 NATO summit Albright coined the “3 Ds†of NATO “which is no diminution of NATO no discrimination and no duplication – because I think that we don’t need any of those three “Ds†to happen.†After her tenure as Secretary of State she served as chair of the consulting Albright Stonebridge Group and was the Michael and Virginia Mortara Endowed Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. For Albright’s contributions to foreign policy and relations that defined a century President Barack Obama awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012. Susan Eisenhower is a trustee of the Eisenhower Fellowships which awarded Albright a former trustee the Eisenhower Medal for Leadership and Service posthumously in 2022.
