On his personal “DDE†letterhead Eisenhower wrote an end-of-the-year letter of thanks to William Jackson of New York: “Dear Bill: As 1954 comes to an end I want again to tell you of my appreciation of your cooperation and assistance on problems of the gravest import to our country and to our world. I hope that as long as I continue in governmental service I may be able to call upon you from time to time. To you and Mrs. Jackson best wishes from Mrs. Ike and me for a Happy New Year and a successful 1955. With warm personal regard Sincerely DEâ€.
