It was the first to use Parry's 'I was Glad' the opening anthem as the King and Queen walked up the nave and used ever since. The Wimbledon and Sutton Railway Company Ltd. incorporated in law by the present Act continued in operation from 1910 to 1925. When in 1923 the Southern Railway Company was formed by merging the five major southern lines and several smaller operators the Wimbledon & Sutton fought to stay apart. 1905. . 8vo Marienbad 5 September 1905 3pp. on royal monogrammed paper creased across centre resulting from previous fold. Lamenting that Wilhelm has been forbidden by his father the last German emperor Wilhelm II from visiting him at Windsor '.unhappily your papa objects to your going away to England this year.' and expressing regret that he is unable to renew his acquaintance with Wilhelm's new wife Cecile. Edward VII was renowned for his diplomatic skills the French referring to him as 'the Peacemaker'; but his relations with his nephew the Kaiser were strained. It is interesting to see in this letter to the Kaiser's eldest son the Crown Prince that although an adult married and shortly to become a father he was still forbidden to visit his great uncle in England. The Kaiser was notoriously difficult tactless and irascible traits that ultimately led to the catastrophic First World War and his forced abdication. 1905. unknown

Hirsch was known as 'Railway Hirsch' having financed the railway from Sofia to Constantinople. The short title names Ruston as attached to 'Chatham C Company Works Kent Fortress Companies Royal Engineers' on 18th December 1908. Later as Lieutenant he was attached to the Submarine Mining School at Gillingham as Captain he commanded No. 1 Works Company at Tonbridge and as Major in 1915 survived the sinking of HMS Hythe which was attempting to land Kent engineers in the Dardanelles. unknown
