Bound in the original gilt decorated black cloth. Alfred Rosenberg 1893-1946 was editor of the Nazi party organ V�LKISCHER BEOBACHTER. It was his anti-Semitic anti-Christian and neo-pagan book DER MYTHUS DES 20. JAHRHUNDERTS The Myth of the Twentieth Century that supplied Adolf Hitler and the Nazis with a philosophical and pseudo-scientific basis for their racist doctrine. In 1933 Rosenberg was appointed foreign affairs secretary of the party. He became minister for the occupied Eastern territories in 1941. Following conviction at the Nuremberg war crimes trials Rosenberg was executed in 1946. With the possible exception of Hitler's MEIN KAMPF Rosenberg's DER MYTHUS DES 20. JAHRHUNDERTS was the book that most influenced the German people in their acceptance of Nazi ideology and doctrine. This copy is from the library of Radio Munich with two small ink stamps: "Eigentum des Radio M�nchen." The association with Radio Munich is important for two reasons: 1 Propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels and the Nazis relied heavily on radio to disseminate their ideology and to build support among the German people. 2 Nazi party headquarters was in Munich and Radio Munich was at the epicenter of the Nazi propaganda machine during the Third Reich's early years. In a speech entitled: The Radio as the Eighth Great Power given on 18 August 1933 Goebbels said: "Future generations may conclude that the radio had as great an intellectual and spiritual impact on the masses as the printing press� It would not have been possible for us to take power or to use it in the ways we have without the radio. It is no exaggeration to say that the German revolution at least in the form it took would have been impossible without. the radio." He talks about the Jewish Demands After the Holocaust, saying that [t]he Jewish approach was different. The Jews did not confine their demands merely to emigration; they connected them with the complex questions of Jewish national homelessness. Their demand was not limited to socio-economic assistance; they wanted a deeper look into the causes which had decimated the Jewish people to a degree and in a manner never before experienced by any other people in the world. In short, they did not present the international community with another refugee problem, or a Jewish Displaced Persons problem, but rather with the problem of the security of the entire Jewish people as revealed by the Holocaust. They sought a national-historical meaning for the Jewish fate during this period- and they found it in the struggle for the establishment of the State of Israel. Title translates to Toward the historic day of judgment, the Jewish people between curses and redemption Published early in the Holocaust, Ben-Adir argues for the enactment of national introspection and calm rather than territorialism! Ben-Adir (18781942) was writer and Jewish socialist leader, born in Krucha, Belorussia. He was a child prodigy and left for university in Minsk at the age of 16. While there, he was heavily influenced by Jewish socialism. After the First Zionist Congress in 1897, Ben-Adir published an article advocating political Zionism in opposition to the ideology of Ahad Ha-Am. After then Kishinev pogrom of 1903 Ben-Adir published a call for the formation of a Jewish party which would combine the aims of revolutionary socialism with national Jewish aspirations. Ben-Adir was one of the founders and ideologists of the Vozrozhdeniye group, and of its successor of the Sejmists (Jewish Socialist Workers' Party) whose program included Jewish national-political autonomy while envisaging territorial sovereignty as a remote aim. Ben-Adir stayed in Eretz Israel between 1925 and 1927 but returned to Berlin, leaving for Paris in 1933. SUBJECTS: Zionism Jewish nationalism. OCLC lists 14 copies worldwide. Holocaust-era speech by Judge Morris Rothenberg, President of the Jewish National Fund of America, about the Jewish immigration achievements since 1882 in Palestine as well as the goals for future purchase and cultivation of land. Sir John Hope-Simpson, Vice-President of the British Refugee Settlement Committee and author of the Hope Simpson Report, had declared in the 1930s that all the all the available land was then already under cultivation and the rest comprised irreclaimable soil. The desperate needs of the Jewish people, the determination and ingenuity of the Yishuv have exploded this expert assertion. The Jewish population of Eretz Israel has more than doubled since that erroneous opinion was uttered and served as the basis for the White Paper of 1931, now lying in the waste basket of history. Hardcover. 4.75" wide by 7.5" tall. The author a member of the French resistance was tracked down trapped tortured and imprisoned by the Gestapo then sent to Fresnes Romainville and eventually Ravensbruck. This memoir tells how she and the other prisoners were treated -- stripped naked shaved bald beaten trampled and whipped. But it is also an account of the inmates' courage friendships and determination to help each other. Endpaper maps of Europe locate dozens of the Nazi concentration camps deportee camps and camp annexes. Illustrated by Jeanette L'Herminier with full-page contemporary drawings. Translated from the French by S. & L. Van Vliet White. Sewn into the headband is a black silk ribbon page marker. Handsomely bound in the original red vinyl-covered boards with a black leather or imitation leather spine decorated in black and gold and with a Nazi eagle and swastika symbol on both the spine and front cover.
