La Rsi rappresenta un processo di transizione dal mussolinismo cesarista al suo legato politico: una democrazia organica ed olistica di radici greco-romane che va articolando un regime rappresentativo dove, accanto alla democrazia pluralista dei partiti, si colloca quale entità integrativa la società civile dei corpi intermedi.

Franz Stangl, nato in Austria nel 1908, ottimo poliziotto, arruolato nella Gestapo dopo l'Anschluss, l'annessione dell'Austria al Terzo Reich di Adolf Hitler, capace di fare una rapidissima carriera che lo porta a diventare prima sovrintendente e poi luogotenente del programma di sterminio T4, e infine comandante dei campi di Sobibor e Treblinka. La sua ultima promozione. Poi la disfatta, la fuga in Italia, i documenti e un'identità falsa, una seconda fuga in Brasile, ventidue anni di anonimato fino all'arresto nel 1967, e poi l'estradizione in Germania, il processo, la condanna all'ergastolo. Poco prima di morire rilascia una lunga intervista, che si conclude con una frase strana: "Per la prima volta oggi ho detto tutto, e adesso non ho più nessuna speranza". Speranza di cosa? Di un perdono? Di una dignità ancora possibile? Di dare agli altri una chiave per capire l'inaccettabile di ciò che è stato? Dominique Sigaud, giornalista e scrittrice con all'attivo già una ventina tra saggi, romanzi, reportage, coglie in quel dubbio finale qualcosa di completamente diverso da quanto è stato detto, negli anni, dai tanti altri assassini nazisti. E allora decide di cercare di capire, e si mette sulle tracce di quest'uomo, ricostruendone tutto il percorso, la coerenza e la metodicità di un umile funzionario della follia, fino all'abisso.

Difficile sottovalutare l’importanza delle riflessioni di Simone Weil per pensare il presente. Testimone di avvenimenti della nostra epoca crudeli e cruciali, li ha sofferti, elaborati e descritti, proprio mentre accadevano, con una lucidità e una sensibilità, forse, inarrivabili. Per questo motivo, a due terzi di secolo dalla sua prematura scomparsa, si continua a leggere, studiare, ammirare il pensiero della giovane parigina e a trarne ispirazione. La sua analisi delle origini del totalitarismo e della sua affermazione in Germania mette in luce le straordinarie affinità tra il nazismo e l’Impero romano, che Weil considera la vera e propria scuola del totalitarismo. Da questo momento diviene sede dell'Aussenkommando Rom e di qui passeranno centinaia di oppositori imprigionati, torturati, destinati a morire. L'intera storia viene ricostruita grazie a una serie di documenti, testimonianze e interviste.

In quel tempo bastava molto meno: Leila Farnocchia. Camaiore-Nozzano agosto 1944
ill., br. Il 22 agosto del 1944 da Pontemazzori la giovane Leila Farnocchia scese a Camaiore per rinnovare la carta di identità. Con la madre, ferita a causa di un bombardamento, era sfollata in collina e ogni giorno si recava in città per prendere oggetti a casa e fare la spesa. Si fermò in via di Mezzo a guardare i manifesti del cinema. Indossava una gonna pantalone corta e sulle spalle aveva un tascapane. La conoscevano come la maestrina seppur non insegnasse. Ad un tratto passò un tedesco in bicicletta che prima le urlò di andar via, poi si fermò e le si avventò addosso. Con lui una giovane prostituta al servizio degli occupanti tedeschi. Catturata venne spinta prima in casa del lattaio - confiscata dai nazisti - poi caricata su una automobile e condotta a Nozzano, dove, presso la scuola elementare le SS avevano creato una terribile prigione dove si consumarono indicibili torture e decine di assassinii. Lì i tedeschi ne fecero un corpo morto prima di ucciderla. Questo libro ricostruisce attraverso gli atti processuali, la storia di Leila Farnocchia e delle due ragazze, che si prostituivano con i tedeschi e che dopo la guerra furono portate a processo.

Domenikon 1943. Quando ad ammazzare sono gli italiani

Il 16 febbraio 1943 tutti gli «uomini validi» di Domenikon, piccolo villaggio della Tessaglia, in Grecia, furono uccisi come (illegittima) reazione a un'imboscata partigiana in cui morirono nove camicie nere. Fu una delle peggiori stragi compiute dai militari italiani nei Balcani. Per i morti di Domenikon nessuno ha mai pagato. È un caso di giustizia negata che, come spiega Vincenzo Sinapi anche attraverso documenti inediti, è legato a quello dell'impunità assicurata ai criminali di guerra nazisti responsabili delle stragi commesse in Italia...
