Une première traduction avait paru sous le titre d’Hipparchus à Orange en 1645. EDITION ORIGINALE de cette nouvelle traduction, faite par un protestant et qui est d’avantage une imitation changée en pamphlet Le jésuite Th. Raynaud est né à Sospelle près de Nice en 1587. Il est mort à Lyon en 1663. Dans ce traité il examine la question s’il est permis aux religieux de se mêler de commerce. Sommervogel VI, 1529 n° 27- Goldsmiths-Kress 5191. Les ff. sont uniformément roussis.

Notizie storico-statistiche relative all'Albergo dei poveri di Genova fondato nella seconda meta' del Seiecento dal patrizio genovese Emanuele Brignole: 'principii costanti furono non dar ricovero che ad assolutamente bisognosi e riconosciuti incapaci di provvedersi il sostentamento o per eta' o per difetti fisici: l'ammaestramento in qualch'arte dei ragazzi d'ambi i sessi, l'insinuare alle classi povere l'amore, il dovere, la dignita' del lavoro, lo spirito di risparmio e di previdenza, la vilta' del mendicare'. Con il passare dei secoli, il numero medio dei ricoverati raddoppio' arrivando ad oltre 1700, anche a causa dei 'rovesci di fortuna' che 'riescono frequenti ed inevitabili' nei luoghi d'industria, mentre appaiono meno instabili le condizioni di chi vive nei 'paesi di ben ripartita possidanza agraria'. Innumerevoli le domande di accoglienza che giungono all'Istituto: 'miserando spettacolo si e' quello che presentasi allorquando gli Amministratori sono adunati per sentire le istanze dei poveri che implorano asilo. Ragazzi di tenera eta' scrofolosi, rachitici, vecchi cadenti, dalla morte o dall'ingratitudine altrui lasciati soli sulla terra, storpi, malsani, coperti di luridi cenci con aspetto ove stanno dipinti i patimenti e la fame, o piuttosto cadaveri che creature viventi'. Gli Amministratori, 'angustiati dalle strettezze dei redditi', esercitano 'l'amaro incarico di pronunciare un presso che inumano giudizio tra miseria e miseria, scrutarne i gradi, porre a calcolo i piu' o men prossimi pericoli di morte per isfinimento. Il vecchio di settanta anni vede a se preferito quello di ottanta: la vedova con quattro figli vede ricusato il suo per raccogliere il quinto o sesto figlio di un'altra ammalata o derelitta'. Numerose le tabelle presenti nel testo con dati statistici fra i quali: movimento numerico dei poveri nell'ultimo quinquennio, stato sanitario dei ricoverati, quadro dei poveri che caddero ammalati, nomenclatura delle malattie sofferte dai poveri, movimento numerico e stato sanitario dei ragazzi accordati presso i villici della divisione di Genova, punizioni inflitte ai poveri per mancamenti commessi (cattivi costumi e parlar sconcio, mancanza di subordinazione, alterchi e percosse, ebrezza).

Rinieri de Rocchi, rifacendosi alle teorie di Romagnosi, ritiene che la vera civilta' consista nello sviluppo della forza degli uomini di pari passo all'evoluzione di un equo regime politico. L'uomo si e' certamente evoluto come dimostrano le migliori condizioni di vita della classe operaia, tuttavia, a fronte di una ricchezza maggiore divisa fra molti, si assiste anche all'aumento della diseguaglianza e al pauperismo, ignoto nelle societa' antiche, diffusosi nelle societa' moderne che si sono sviluppate grazie alla proliferazione meccanico industriale. A seguito di cio', e' accduto che molti criticassero l'introduzione delle macchine e chiedessero di mettere un freno alla loro diffusione. Questa, secondo l'A., e' un'aberrazione dei principi economici, anche perche' e' da rigettarsi la teoria di quanti, come Sismodi, ritengono che la diffusione delle macchine comporti un'eccedenza della produzione.

In barbe, a fogli chiusi. - All'inizio del secolo, sotto l'impulso di Louis Riviere, si sviluppò un movimento per la creazione dei Jardins Ouvriers: appezzamenti di terreno, di solito in periferia, in prossimità delle agglomerazioni operaie, destinate alla coltivazione di un orto. L'operaio mantiene così un rapporto con la terra, ha un diversivo produttivo rispetto all'osteria, l'orto aiuta l'alimentazione, l'igiene ne guadagna nel complesso. Le iniziative di questo genere paternalistico ebbero una discreta espansione, in Francia, in Germania, In Belgio, In Olanda, in Svizzera e anche in Italia. Non mancavano i problemi: primo fra tutti la disponibilità delle terre, per le quali il Secondo congresso chiamava alla solidarietà privati e Stato. Jardins ouvriers esistevano ancora un secolo dopo alla periferia di Parigi.

Mori al quale appartengono con ogni probabilita' le annotazioni manoscritte su un foglietto attaccato al piatto posteriore. Francesco Antonio Mori fu professore di diritto criminale all'Universita' di Pisa. Ed. orig. di questo saggio di Romagnosi che affronta la questione del pauperismo e delle condizioni di lavoro della classe operaia inglese che definisce una 'vera servitu' dell'officina perfettamente simile alla servitu' della gleba'. Romagnosi si oppone a quanti censurano i governi che danno soccorso ai poveri con partcolare riferimento alla cosiddetta 'tassa dei poveri' attiva in Inghilterra che, di fronte all'aumento del pauperismo, approvo' una sorta di beneficenza obbligatoria per via burocratica. Romagnosi critica inoltre le teorie di Malthus che proponeva la proibizione forzata del matrimonio per i poveri poiche' essi si riproducono piu' velocemte dei mezzi di sussistenza.
