Revised by Wasudev Laxman Sastri Panisikar
The Kathasaritsagara of Somadevabhatta [Hardcover]
About The Book : The Kath?sarits?gara is a large work. Each book comprises a number of stories loosely strung together, by being narrated for the recreation or information of the same individuals, or arising out of their adventures. These are Udayana, king of Kosambi, and his son Naravahanadatta. The marriage of the latter with various damsels of terrestrial or celestial origin, and his elevation to the rank of king of the Vidyadharas, a class of heavenly spirits, are the leading topics of most of the books; but they merely constitute the skeleton of the composition, the substance being made up of stories growing out of these circumstances, or springing from one another with an ingenuity of intricacy which is one of the great charms of all such collections. About The Author : Somadeva Bhatta was an eleventh century writer from Kashmir. Not much is known about him except that his father's name was Rama and he composed his work (probably during the years 1063-81 CE) for the entertainment of the queen Suryamati, a princess of Jalandhara and wife of King Ananta of Kashmir. The queen was quite distraught as it was a time when the political situation in Kashmir was 'one of discontent, intrigue, bloodshed and despair'.Though he was a Shaiva Brahmin, he was respectful of Buddhism and some of the tales in the Kathasaritsagara show Buddhist influences.Revised by Pansikar Wasudev Laxman Sastri has written famous books, like, Panchdashi with commentary; Yajnavalkya with the commentary, Kavyapradipa (An old and rare book); and many more, the master piece of all is The Ramayana of Valmeki a curious amalgamation of the aforementioned three mediums of teaching. The Title 'The Kathasaritsagara of Somadevabhatta written/authored/edited by Revised by Wasudev Laxman Sastri Panisikar', published in the year 2022. The ISBN 9788121266062 is assigned to the Hardcover version of this title. This book has total of pp. 613 (Pages). The publisher of this title is Gyan Publishing House. This Book is in Sanskrit. The subject of this book is Tales -- India / Social life and customs / Hindu mythology Folk literature -- Themes, motives. Size of the book is 22.59 x 28.94 cms Vol:-

Robertson Struan; Operation Hunger Organization
The Cold Choice: Pictures of a South African Reality
Trenton NJ: Africa World Press. New with no dust jacket. 1991. Hardcover. This book is the record of four years' travelling with Operation Hunger teams around South Africa. The flip side of the glossy tourist-view of the country this book shows South Africa as it is experienced by the majority of its people: A succession of tumbledown relocation camps and overcrowded townships with bad roads no sewage minimal clean water and no street lighting. Yet in this depressing squalor the author found something more rewarding than beautiful tourist views. 'When I began this project I expected to record suffering and injustice. There was plenty of both but what struck me was the resilience of the human spirit. Even in the worst relocation camps such as Tentergate or Padstowe I found people who not only managed to survive but to find hope and meaning in their lives. I was humbled by them'. Richly illustrated throughout the text. ; 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall . Africa World Press hardcover

Ross, John F.L.
It's All Greece to Me
" Greece is a country famed worldwide for its physical beauty, wealth of antiquities and other vestiges of its unsurpassed ancient civilisation. Yet despite over ten million annual visitors and an open and inviting culture, modern Greece is not an easy country for outsiders to understand or comprehend fully. Countless tourist guides extoll its resorts and archaeological tomes unravel its classical past, but there are few books that attempt to explore the many complexities of Greek life and lifestyles right here in the present. Until now, that is, "It's All Greece to Me: Impressions of Contemporary Greek Life", by longtime Athens News contributor John F.L. Ross, offers an accessible and dependable guide to the nooks and crannies of the modern Greek character, mentallity, customs and attitudes. It offers a sharp-eyed and challenging yet sympathetic look at the rapidly changing nature of contemporary Greece at the dawn of the new milleniium. Throughout, Ross writes with the clarity, gentle wit and perceptive insight that readers have come to expect from the author of the longrunning and popular Thursday column "On Second Thought." Book

Fiabe e mercanti in Sicilia.
This monograph is dedicated to the first collection of commented popular Italian stories that are analysed from various points of view: from the genesis to the history of their receptivity, from a structural and morphological analysis to an investigation on the regional, national and international indicator of fairy tale themes. The slope on which the authoress abuts gives her anthology an original style compared to the latter works by Giuseppe Pitr? 757 gr. xii-404 p.
