ill., br. L'U.N.P.A. Unione Nazionale Protezione Antiaerea, nata nell'agosto del 1934, fu la prima difesa civile italiana, organizzata con lo scopo di fare azioni di prevenzione e salvataggio durante e dopo gli allarmi aerei. Fino al 1940 era composta da volontari addestrati per aiutare i Vigili del Fuoco e i militari del Genio del Regio Esercito nello spegnimento degli incendi e abili alla ricerca di sopravvissuti sepolti sotto il crollo delle abitazioni. Le squadre dell'U.N.P.A. erano dotate di motocarrozzette sulle quali si trovavano pale, picconi, asce, scale, funi ed altro materiale di salvataggio, oltre agli estintori. Con l'entrata in guerra l'U.N.P.A. fu militarizzata e con l'incedere del conflitto e l'aumento dei bombardamenti aerei sulle città italiane, diventò fondamentale nella macchina dei soccorsi. Frutto di un'interminabile ricerca questa è la prima pubblicazione completa su un'organizzazione che ebbe una parte importante durante la Seconda guerra mondiale, ma che è stata poi sostanzialmente dimenticata dalla storia. L'U.N.P.A. fu sciolta da Re Umberto II nel marzo del 1946.

Trattandosi di un lavoro ispirato dalle vicende che videro il Regno Borbonico scomparire dalla cartina geopolitica per diventare un generico Sud Italia diviso in regioni, noterete che sono emotivamente 'di parte', essendo quel regno la mia ritrovata Patria originaria, ma questo non mi ha impedito di riportare i fatti in modo obiettivo, così come li ho trovati, anzi... come il mio paziente me li ha raccontati". Anacronie. L'inattualità del contemporaneo
br. I saggi raccolti nel volume indagano il concetto di "contemporaneo", mettendone in questione il significato storiografico tradizionale. Investigando la temporalità della rammemorazione (Bloch e Benjamin), della comprensione e dell'arte (Gadamer), dell'inconscio (Freud e Lacan), della relazione etica (Levinas) e dell'interpretazione post-storica (Calasso), essi lasciano emergere come il contemporaneo non sia una nozione cronologica di tempo, corrispondente al presente o all'attuale, ma indichi una rottura del continuum temporale. Si tratta di un'intempestività, che diviene il luogo di un incontro evenemenziale tra una pluralità di tempi, tra un passato riattualizzato e l'avvenire. Il contemporaneo non nomina perciò una sincronia, bensì un'anacronia, che irrompe nella diacronia del tempo, impedendo al presente di coincidere con se stesso.

brossura Nei corsi friburghesi degli anni Venti la lettura heideggeriana non solo degli autori cristiani (Paolo e Agostino), ma anche del "pagano" Aristotele, subisce la decisiva influenza - spesso ignorata o misconosciuta - del giovane Lutero, colui che mette in atto una destructio radicale del "vecchio Adamo", l'uomo del peccato, in vista della sua rinascita, nonché della theologia gloriae, la teologia scolastica, in vista di una theologia crucis, l'esperienza storica di un Dio che si fa uomo e muore crocifisso. In modo analogo Heidegger decostruisce la filosofia speculativa della vita ed elabora una comprensione della vita fattizia, storico-concreta, realizzabile solo attraverso la metánoia dell'esistenza. Nel solco dell'interpretazione luterana, Heidegger ricava dalle Lettere paoline, dalle Confessioni agostiniane e dagli scritti aristotelici le categorie proto-cristiane e proto-fenomenologiche, che indicano formalmente come la vita si attua, lacerata tra possibilità opposte di cui quella più propria, da assumere o fuggire, è la morte -, che la rendono massimamente in-quieta. Tali categorie rappresentano il laboratorio da cui sorgerà l'analitica esistenziale di Essere e tempo, l'analitica di un Dasein finito, gettato-nel-mondo, che non è una "sostanza" fissa e immobile, ma, in quanto apertura al possibile, un a-venire.

Un lavoro poderoso, che li ha visti impegnati per quattro anni su più fronti: una decina di archivi da setacciare, centoquaranta testimonianze raccolte, migliaia di documenti e centinaia di storie; tutto innestato sullo schema narrativo di un diario originale inedito che va dal settembre 1943 all'aprile 1945: quello di Giovanni Rovida, allora segretario comunale a Lonato. Da Lonato lo sguardo spazia su buona parte del fronte della seconda guerra mondiale, offrendo anche un ampio ed esaustivo sguardo su cosa volesse dire essere sotto la RSI, raccontando la quotidianità della guerra: nascondere soldati perché ricercati da tedeschi e fascisti, leggere i volantini nazisti che si rivolgono al "popolo italiano", sfuggire alle bombe, trovare del cibo.

Un paradigma che, negli anni compresi tra il 1968 e il 1977, assume un valore particolare; per la capacità del carcere di trasformare la protesta sociale in «scuola di rivoluzione», da un lato. Ma anche per i problemi che la repressione, attraverso l'introduzione della differenziazione del regime di detenzione, finisce con il porre alla stagione delle rivolte carcerarie. "L'aria brucia", con dovizia di particolari, ricostruisce quella che alla resa dei conti resta ancora una vicenda oscura, dando un contributo fondamentale alla conoscenza della conflittualità politica e sociale italiana.

William Penny's Franklin search expedition of 1850-51. The <i>Lady Franklin </i>and <i>Sophia </i>sailed from Aberdeen through Davis Strait to the west coast of Greenland through Baffin Bay Lancaster Sound to Cornwallis Island. The party wintered there at Assistance Harbour and conducted boat and sledge journeys in Barrow Strait and around Wellington Channel on the shores of Devon Beechey and Cornwallis Islands. The appendix includes the reports of the traveling parties and narratives of the sledge excursions by Sutherland Capt. A.Stewart R.A.Goodsir and J.Stuart admiralty papers meteorological abstracts and a register of tides as well as observations on geology by J.W.Salter zoology algae and botany plants collected during the voyage and named by W.J.Hooker. Filosofia della moda
br. Scrivere un saggio filosofico sulla moda è impresa che pochi, nella storia del pensiero occidentale, hanno ritenuto valesse la pena di intraprendere. D'altronde, una «filosofia della moda» può suonare di primo acchito quasi come una contraddizione in termini: perché mai la disciplina profonda per eccellenza dovrebbe occuparsi di un fenomeno così vacuo e superficiale? Eppure, se ci si riflette, non si può negare che dal Rinascimento a oggi la moda ha esercitato sulla civiltà occidentale una grandissima influenza, conquistando alla sua causa un numero crescente di ambiti della vita moderna, fino a diventare per noi quasi una «seconda natura». Tutti, quotidianamente, facciamo esperienza della moda: quando compriamo qualcosa, quando scegliamo come vestirci, quando sfogliamo una rivista o entriamo in una galleria d'arte. E allora, come scrive Lars Fr. H. Svendsen, un'analisi filosofica del significato della moda - della sua insaziabile ricerca del «nuovo», dei meccanismi della sua diffusione, della sua relazione con il corpo e il linguaggio, del suo status di merce e di arte e, non da ultimo, del suo ruolo come ideale di vita - ci può aiutare a conoscere meglio noi stessi, le nostre radici e la società che ci circonda. È un'analisi che il filosofo norvegese conduce in modo rigoroso e al tempo stesso brillante, muovendosi agile tra Armani e Kant, Baudelaire e Prada, Simmel e Warhol. È un'indagine filosofica, quella di Svendsen, che si alimenta della storia, della sociologia e della letteratura, per farci scoprire, nell'abbagliante superficialità della moda, alcune delle verità più profonde, e spesso «scomode», del mondo in cui viviamo.
