He was a member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly member of Indian parliament Lok Sabha and the Mayor of Calcutta. He was involved with the anti-colonials movements like Khilafat Movement and Civil Disobedience Movement. Badrudduja joined and served as Secretary of Progressive Muslim League. He worked in the Indian independence movement with Bengali leaders like Chitta Ranjan Das Subhas Chandra Bose and Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy. He was also associated with Krishak Praja Party. Later he became president of Independent Democratic Party. He also served as Secretary of the Progressive Assembly Party Bengal and as President of the Progressive Coalition Party Bengal. He was the Mayor of Kolkata from 1943 to 1944. He decided to stay in India after the Partition. He was a member of Bengal Legislative Assembly 1940-56 Bengal Legislative Council 1946-47 West Bengal Legislative Assembly 1948-52 and 1957-62; Member Third Lok Sabha 1962-67 and 4th Lok Sabha- 1967-70. Apart from this he was active in public life and served as President of Calcutta Muslim Students' Association Anjuman-i-Traqqi Urdu West Bengal West Bengal Relief and Rehabilitation Samity Calcutta Muslim Institute and Vice-President of All Bengal Muslim Youngmen Association. ill., br. Spagna e Italia hanno mantenuto forti relazioni culturali nel corso della loro storia. Lo stesso Miguel de Cervantes ha viaggiato in gioventù per l'intera penisola italiana. I fruttuosi rapporti politici fra Spagna e Italia videro il loro culmine nel 1759, quando Carlo di Borbone passò da essere Re di Napoli a essere Re di Spagna, trasferendosi a Madrid. Gli scambi culturali comprendevano anche la musica, come dimostrano la presenza in Spagna del grande castrato Farinelli o di compositori come il piacentino Corselli, il napoletano Domenico Scarlatti o il lucchese Luigi Boccherini. Gran parte di questi scambi aveva una base istituzionale, ruotava cioè intorno alla monarchia, alle case nobili o alla Chiesa. Ma dopo il 1750 si assiste allo sviluppo di strade più informali, che arricchiscono tale panorama. Si aprono nuove realtà e prospettive negli scambi musicali tra Spagna e Italia, per ciò che concerne il commercio, l'editoria, l'educazione, la produzione operistica o i concerti. Il presente libro esplora i transfert musicali tra Spagna e Italia in un periodo in cui si assiste al passaggio verso la società contemporanea, ossia fra i decenni centrali del XVIII secolo e la prima metà del XIX secolo.
