‎The Peace of Munster, signed between the Catholic Monarchy and the United Provinces in 1648, went against the political culture of both polities. The fact that the Spanish Monarchy definitively accepted the independence of its former subjects clearly negated the policy put forward by the Monarchy during the ?eighty' years that the war lasted and to the Monarchy's declared main goals. For the United Provinces, signing a peace with the archenemy without having brought liberty and religious freedom to ten of the seventeen provinces that formed part of the ancient Burgundian circle was also considered by important groups in the ?rebel' provinces as a defection. Portraying the political culture of both the Catholic Monarchy and the United Provinces, this work analyses the views held in both territories concerning the points which were discussed in pamphlets and treatises published during the peace negotiations. It also traces the origin of the arguments presented, showing how they were transformed during the period under study, and discusses their influence, or presence, in the diplomatic negotiations among the ambassadors of the United Provinces and the Catholic Monarchy in the German town of Munster. These discussions are inserted in the wider framework of a Christian realm that had to reassess its own values as a consequence of the confessionalisation process and the Thirty Years' War, which affected not only the Empire but, in one way or another, all Central and Western Europe.‎

Au debut des annees 60, la disparition des commandes privees pousse le createur a s'installer a Mexico, ou il fonde la societe Artedecor, puis a Los Angeles, avant de revenir a Paris par la voie de l'Orient. De ce contact avec le pop americain nait le travail qu'il developpe en 1968, creant a partir de nouveaux materiaux des modeles destines a l?edition pour la galerie Lacloche ou pour la salle a manger de Maurice Rheims, sans jamais se departir de sa rigueur classique.‎

In de zevende eeuw verloor Dimpna, een Ierse prinses op de vlucht voor haar incestueuze vader, haar hoofd in het Kempische Geel. Vanaf de hoge middeleeuwen trokken pelgrims massaal naar Geel om een glimp op te vangen van de heilige Dimpa en brachten ze hulde aan de plaatselijke beroemdheid in de hoop hun psychische problemen te verlichten. Ook vandaag staat Geel nog bekend omwille van zijn bijzondere omgang met geesteszieken, die er thuis bij de inwoners worden opgevangen. In de vroege zestiende eeuw deed de populariteit van de heilige Dimpna de abt van de abdij van Tongerlo besluiten een enorm altaarstuk te laten maken dat het levensverhaal van deze bijzondere heilige zou verbeelden. De opdracht kwam in handen van de Antwerpse schilder Goossen Van der Weyden, kleinzoon van Vlaamse Primitief Rogier, die in zijn eclectische stijl heel wat ele menten van zijn grootvader overnam. Het resultaat van deze opdracht, het monumentale Dimpna-altaarstuk, werd recentelijk verworven door The Phoebus Foundation. De panelen werden gedurende drie jaar behandeld in het restauratieate lier van de Foundation. Het verbluffende resultaat leidde tot nieuwe inzichten over de ontstaansgeschiedenis van het altaar stuk, zijn maker en opdrachtgever, en over de cultus van de heilige Dimpna. Toonaan gevende specialisten lieten hun licht schij nen over het altaarstuk en hun jarenlange onderzoek wordt nu gebundeld in deze luxueuze, rijk ge llustreerde publicatie. Met essays van Till-Holger Borchert (Musea Brugge), Stephan Kemperdick (Staatliche Museen, Berlijn), Katharina Van Cauteren (The Phoebus Foundation), Lucinda Timmermans (Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam), Patrick Allegaert (Museum Dr Guislain, Gent) en vele anderen. ‎Deze publicatie vormt de eerste monografie met oeuvrecatalogus van het oeuvre van Albrecht Bouts. Als jongste zoon van Dirk Bouts, opgeleid in het atelier van zijn vader in Leuven, kende de kunstenaar een voor die tijd uitzonderlijk lang leven. Het volume opent met een overzicht van de receptiegeschiedenis van de schilder. ‎This Buddhist text has a long history and enjoyed great popularity in many Asian countries. It incorporates dogmatic treatises and reflects several ancient cults devoted to the historical Buddha Sakyamuni as well as several Bodhisattvas. Of the three Chinese translations form the original Sanskrit text the one by Yi Jing (7th century) became the basis of further traditions. Fragments of a translation from this Chinese version into Old Turkish around the 10th century, were found by the numerous and famous Central Asian expeditions in Gansu as well as in the Turfan oasis. For the critical edition of the forewords and the first two chapters, all surviving manuscripts and blockprints (altogether two in Petersburg and about twenty in the Turfan Collection of the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften) have been collated. Parts missing in the Petersburg manuscripts are here edited for the first time. The edition is accompanied by a German translation as wellas a commentary on textual and Buddhological problems. Lamottes "le joyeau du bouddhisme", ist eines der beruhmten Mahayana-Sutras und hat besonders in der Geschichte des chinesischen Buddhismus einen bedeutenden Platz erhalten. Vollstandig ist dieses nur in tibetischer und chinesischer Sprache uberliefert, nicht aber in Sanskrit, wo jedoch zahlreiche Passagen als Zitate vorkommen. Die mongolische Version ist direkt von der tibetischen abhangig. Auf die sanskritische Version gehen nicht nur die tibetische, sondern naturlich auch die chinesischen Fassungen zuruck, von denen immerhin drei unterschiedliche Ubersetzungen erhalten sind. Aus dem alten Zentralasien waren bisher Fragmente vor allem in khotansakischer und sogdischer Ubersetzung bekannt. Wahrend die erstere von der sanskritischen Tradition abhangig ist, wurde die letztere aus der chinesischen Fassung des Kumarajiva ubertragen. Einige wenige altturkische Fragmente in sogdischer Schrift wurden von D. Fedakar herausgegeben, die hier als Handschrift S mit eingearbeitet wurden. Mit der vorliegenden Ausgabe weiterer Vkn-Fragmente in mehreren in uigurischer Schrift geschriebenen Handschriften (A-I, X) lasst sich ein betrachtlicher Teil des Sutras in altturkischer Ubertragung rekonstruieren. Fur das Verstandnis des Vkn selbst ergeben sich partiell einige interessante Aspekte. Languages: German.‎

‎The book is the first comprehensive edition of all hitherto identified fragments of the K'anti Kilguluk Nom Bitig in Old Uygur (Old Turkic) culled from several collections of Central Asian manuscripts in Germany, Russia, China and Japan. The text is a translation in 40 chapters of a Chinese Buddhist work (Cibei daochang chanfa) which belongs to the apocrypha. It testifies to the strong influence of Chinese Buddhism at the beginning of the second millennium A.D. among the Uygurs. The objective of the work, which was intended to be recited during a ritual, is the expiation of sins. Another aim was to rescue the patrons' relatives from a life in unfavourable births among hell beings, hungry ghosts, animals etc. Remarkable is the insertion of what must have been originally about a thousand Buddha names numerous of which are preserved in the Old Uygur version. ‎The book is the first edition of the Old Turkish commentary on the Vimalakirtinirdesa-Sutra. All fragments that were identified belonging to this commentary are now preserved in the Berlin Turfan Collection. The relevant commentary may have been based on a Chinese text, whose author was a representative of the Tiantai school. However, some lines in the Old Turkish version are the additions of the Uyghur translator or, more specifically, author and clearly show the strong influence of the Yogic'ra school, which was then studied with keen interest in Dunhuang, the neighbouring city of Turfan. This fact indicates the close relationship between this Uyghur author and the Buddhism in Dunhuang. Moreover, the Old Turkish version of the Vimalakirtinirdesa-Sutra (published by Peter Zieme as Berliner Turfantexte XX) is preserved. The comparison between these two texts shows, however, that both texts were independently translated into Old Turkish. Languages: German.‎
