Il libro, nel contesto di alcuni capitoli che precedono e concludono l'argomento dandone la chiave di una corretta lettura, presenta nove casi di persone che hanno vissuto la drammatica esperienza di vessazione o di possessione diabolica. Tutto ciò allo scopo di far conoscere questa triste realtà a una comunità cristiana, la quale ignora spesso l'esistenza di persone che vivono questo dramma e, conseguentemente, non dà ad esse l'aiuto necessario attraverso la preghiera e il digiuno, anzi il più delle volte è come se le avesse cancellate dall'anagrafe della Chiesa, nonostante sia detto che queste persone, tra i poveri, sono i più poveri che la Chiesa deve amare di amore di predilezione (cfr. Presentazione al Rito degli esorcismi in italiano, n. 16). È triste constatare, poi, come in tante diocesi non ci si preoccupi di incaricare un sacerdote, che eserciti il ministero di esorcista, e vedere persone che, schiacciate dalla sofferenza, battono, nella loro disperazione, strade sbagliate, ricorrendo a maghi e a fattucchieri nella ricerca di qualcuno che possa risolvere i loro problemi. Peccato! La Chiesa dispone di uno strumento validissimo, che è l'esorcismo, datole dal suo Signore, per risolvere tali problemi, e purtroppo non sempre esso viene esercitato. Prefazione del card. Decorative paper binding 10 x 7 cm. The title of this booklet attracts the eye and sharpens the curiosity and this is also the intention of the author supposedly the biblical demon Asmodeus as he claims in his preface. ""The Devil's Almanac containing very curious and absolutely infallible predictions for the year 1737"" suggests to the reader a parodic collection with sarcastic humor. The Almanac begins with a preface by the author describing the difficulties of finding a printing press for the booklet. That of the Ecclesiastical News a jansenist underground magazin might have been appropriate ""but where in the world can it be found"". The solution finally prevails: the Lord Lucifer will have his own printing house.Thereafter a list of 67 predictions follows. The target of these prophecies are the ""people"" the celebrities of the moment courtiers ecclesistical dignataries and other fine speakers characters who were laughing at La Rochefoucault and La Bruyere in the previous century. No one is named the purpose of the game is for the public to find who is behind each character and the author to avoid censorship. The 12th prediction refers to the playwright Le Franc de Pompignan whose plays are today little known. Some predictions are general: ""two great rhymers one young the other old Voltaire and Rousseau . The themes are diverse but predictions often revolve around Jansenism their quarrel with the Jesuits and the Unigenitus bubble. Jansenist believe that everything is written in advance and that the grace of God is granted independently of our behavior. They thus attract the animosity of Pope Clement XI who in 1713 blasted the bull Unigenitus condeming 101 proposals from the reference Jansenist work of Pasquier Quesnel Moral Reflections. This bubble will be strongly contested and the case will continue for another 50 years. unknown

La minuziosa disamina degli snodi fondamentali del testo narrativo di Hoffmann fa tutt'uno con la successiva parte che costituisce il volume, e nella quale il venire alla luce della falsa autonomia moderna trova la sua fondazione filosofica attraverso un interessante, e lucido, rimando tra le posizioni di Heidegger, Girard e Maritain. Si potrebbe quasi giungere ad affermare che Bigini utilizza la continua triangolazione di questi tre autori come una chiave interpretativa basilare capace di mostrare non solo la verità del testo hoffmaniano in contrapposizione ad alcune precedenti interpretazioni, ma anche il suo dispiegarsi nella forma di una critica che è possibile comprendere solo attraverso la comparazione tra le due possibili dinamiche esistenziali - una fondativa e l'altra degenerativa - della trascendenza e dell'autonoma immanenza.

br. Un libro sul demonio che vuole essere "consolante". Se questo è lo scopo, a qualcuno verrà da pensare che l'argomento sia sbagliato: che cosa ci può essere di consolatorio nella contemplazione del regno delle tenebre e dei suoi abitanti? La "Terra di Mordor", per ricorrere all'immagine letteraria del "Signore degli Anelli", ha forse questo di caratteristico: è letteralmente sconsolante. Eppure la vicenda, se seguita sino in fondo, è bella di una bellezza vera, cioè tale da soddisfare le aspirazioni e le speranze profonde, spesso a lui stesso nascoste, del lettore. Una bella lettura è come un viaggio, di cui la Divina Commedia ci offre un altro esempio letterario sublime. Non si tratterà però di una fuga dal reale? No, non è una fuga, ma realismo estremo, e per arrivare a convincersene può essere utile la lettura il più possibile attenta di queste pagine, che narrano di una sconfitta, la più grande sconfitta della storia del mondo. Una sconfitta definitiva, cioè eterna, che è l'ombra in negativo di una meravigliosa ed affascinante vittoria di cui il Vangelo è la narrazione fedele. Il demonio, l'Oscuro Signore, in fondo è sconfitto e anche noi lo possiamo sconfiggere nella misura in cui, con la fede, ci affidiamo interamente all'Uomo più forte di lui che è Gesù nostro Signore.

Lo studioso fin dai primi suoi lavori si era occupato del demoniaco approfondendo la "possessione di Loudun" - il celebre caso della priora Jeanne des Anges nel 1632 -, svolge in questa raccolta di testi brevi alcune riflessioni sul "satanismo" nella cultura occidentale scritte quasi a caldo dopo la visione dei singoli film e poi pubblicate su alcuni giornali francesi. La paura, l'angoscia, l'incertezza sociale, lo scientismo dominante, la minaccia nucleare ed ecologica: queste motivazioni preparano un terreno al riemergere di domande decisive sul male, il diabolico, l'irrazionale. Il lettore dei saggi di André Chastel, Pierre Francastel e Hans Sedlmayr raccolti in questo libro ha l'occasione di vedere all'opera tre maestri della storia dell'arte e di riconoscerne immediatamente stili e sensibilità differenti. Francastel indaga le forme del demoniaco nell'arte medioevale, cogliendo nelle sacre rappresentazioni le origini di alcuni suoi tratti tipici. Partendo dal tema del Congresso di Studi umanistici promosso da Enrico Castelli nel 1952, Chastel invece rilegge le paure della cultura europea alla fine del '400. 天津.Tianjin.: No publication details. circa1968. A Chinese Cultural Revolution poster featuring 19 photographic illustrations printed in blue ink with captions under each image text upper margin in traditional Chinese in red ink. Some variation in the printing of the images in some cases the light being rather light. Good copy. Sheet measures 78.9 x 53.4cm. "'Monsters and Demons' 牛鬼蛇神 niugui sheshen was the term used to vilify specialists scholars authorities and 'people who entrenched themselves in ideological and cultural positions' during the Cultural Revolution. Following the rebroadcasting and reprinting of the editorial <br>"Sweep Away All Monsters and Demons" first published in the People's Daily on 1 June 1966 the Red Guards started a huge purge which swept the country 'dragging out' and prosecuting all those ostensibly fitting the description. The editorial was written by order of Mao Zedong's his political secretary Chen Boda one of the members of the Central Cultural Revolution Group which was headed by Jiang Qing." see Stefan Landsberger's excellent site Chinese Posters. <br> <br>The "demons" featured in this poster were government officials from the sports departments within Hebei Province. In the pictures they have all been forced to kneel down hands handcuffed at their back with a big large piece of cardboard listing their anti-revolutionary offences hung around their necks as part of their public shaming. <br>The "demons" were all accused of the crimes of anti-revolution revisionism under the political campaign led by Mao Zedong which started at the beginning of the Cultural Revolution. .
