L'evoluzione della terra. Cosmogonia e geologia. Un divenire organico
br. Nel volume si tiene conto del rapido progresso attualmente in corso nella conoscenza della Terra. La conquista degli strati superiori dell'atmosfera e dello spazio cosmico rendono tanto più importante, prima di qualunque sforzo in tale direzione, l'acquisizione di una vera conoscenza della Terra e della sua evoluzione alle quali ciò che segue vuole dare un contributo. Per scegliere ed enucleare dalla massa dei fenomeni quelli che sono specialmente in grado di contribuire alla formazione di una nuova visione d'insieme. Una ricerca più dettagliata contribuirà certamente a modificare, correggere e completare di molto la presente esposizione, ma l'essenziale risiede nel metodo che cerca di derivare le leggi di formazione di questo insieme considerato come un tutto organizzato. Dopo un rapido esame degli stadi iniziali di formazione e organizzazione del Cosmo, passiamo alle diverse fasi che danno all'organismo terrestre il suo aspetto, studiando i periodi e i loro specifici ritmi, i quali hanno improntato il passato e agiscono ancora oggi. Giacché la Terra, organismo vivente, resta sempre e comunque legata all'organismo cosmico che la circonda, dal quale essa è nata e nel quale prosegue la sua evoluzione attraverso cambiamenti e numerosi sincronismi ritmici. Per questo motivo abbiamo descritto negli ultimi capitoli i rapporti reciproci del Cosmo e della Terra, aiutandoci con i risultati dell'attuale ricerca. L'uomo, appartenendo a questa genesi e a questa evoluzione e partecipandovi con le sue azioni secondo il ritmo delle diverse epoche di civiltà, ha il suo posto nel tutto costituito dall'evoluzione comune del cosmo, della Terra e dell'uomo.

Un libro dove la scienza e la vita sono fuse in un'unità concreta con la promessa, grazie al pensiero scientifico, di soddisfare il grande bisogno di risolvere gradatamente ma con certezza gli enigmi che la vita e la realtà pongono all'uomo. L'autore usa il metodo di R. Steiner prendendo in considerazione la scienza spirituale, dove per scienza si intende una scienza non astratta, ma viva, della realtà, per affrontare così i problemi sulla conoscenza della natura, le questioni più profonde sulla concezione del mondo ed avere una visione diversa del pensiero scientifico che ha dominato la storia dal XV al XX secolo fondato su una scienza materialistica rivolta a ciò che è quantitativo, inerte, non soffermandosi invece sul mistero di ciò che è vivente, organico. La Terra è vista come un organismo vivente che "respira", termine delle azioni formatrici del cosmo intero e germe di una sua nuova evoluzione.
