Easton Neston was begun in the middle ages and expanded in subsequent centuries. Nicolas Hawksmoor was responsible for the Palladian style facade that became Easton Neston's trademark. Autograph Quotation Signed
Son of the American stage star Edward Askew Sothern junior was a standard in many a Broadway romance and adventure production from the 1880s on; he married Julia Marlowe and starred with her in Shakespearian dramas. AQS heavy stock 3½" X 2" card tipped to slightly larger brown autograph album leaf n.p. n.y. Near fine. In his usual hurried scrawl that makes the text of this quotation unfortunately illegible Sothern pens two brief lines perhaps "What a - - / love is & etc / Highest Buddha" -- or perhaps not! in a rich brown ink signing "Yrs EH Sothern" as usual. Despite the improbability of an accurate transcription an interesting attractive piece. unknown
