Giacomo Puccini?s La boh?me was the outcome of an elaborate process in preparing its libretto, the numerous versions of the text and the various attempts at selecting and assembling all the parts involved. A significant portion of this material and proofs is preserved in the archives of Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica which made it possible, for the first time, to compile an integral edition and examine its development in the light of contemporary libretto practice. 524 gr. x-276 p.

brossura Come in ogni fiaba che si rispetti anche nel "Flauto magico" è possibile trovare significati assai diversi tra loro, messaggi cifrati destinati a una marea di interpretazioni. Goethe dichiarò che l'opera è piena di «inverosimiglianze che non tutti sono in grado di apprezzare nella giusta maniera». Gli autori ricercano questa "giusta maniera" goethiana, tenendosi il più possibile vicini all'ambiente culturale dei protagonisti. La chiave di lettura più oggettiva si rifà agli avvenimenti coevi. A Vienna si percepiva nettamente un clima di sospetto e di controllo poliziesco. La monarchia temeva da un giorno all'altro qualche insurrezione. Non si parlava d'altro che di Cagliostro, il quale si era dichiarato capo degli illuminati di Baviera. Il Sant'Uffizio emanò nel 1791 il verdetto di colpevolezza e all'interno dello Stato Pontificio fu proibito a chiunque di aderire alla setta egiziana e a quella degli illuminati. In questo contesto scosso da altri eventi rivoluzionari nacque il "Flauto magico". Il libro ricostruisce quel mondo, così che il lettore possa ambientarvisi e vivere le emozioni che gli spettatori avranno provato ascoltando la musica di Mozart alla fine del XVIII secolo.

La frammentazione sociale e politica del paese favorisce la proliferazione di una moltitudine di "centri periferici", da cui nasce quel regime di concorrenza che, a sua volta, influisce sulla ricchezza e varietà della produzione. Proprio queste differenze e spinte centrifughe sono all'origine di quell'eccezionale e ininterrotta produzione e della sostanziale uniformità stilistica che contraddistingue l'opera italiana.

In-16° (18 x 12 cm). 31 pp. Brossura editoriale. L'opera lirica scritta da Donizetti su libretto di G. E. Bidera fu rappresentata per la prima volta alla Scala di Milano nel 1834. La rappresentazione alla Fenice avvenne il 18 marzo 1840. Di grande interesse il cast dei cantanti e l'elenco dei professori d'orchestra.
