brossura Come in ogni fiaba che si rispetti anche nel "Flauto magico" è possibile trovare significati assai diversi tra loro, messaggi cifrati destinati a una marea di interpretazioni. Goethe dichiarò che l'opera è piena di «inverosimiglianze che non tutti sono in grado di apprezzare nella giusta maniera». Gli autori ricercano questa "giusta maniera" goethiana, tenendosi il più possibile vicini all'ambiente culturale dei protagonisti. La chiave di lettura più oggettiva si rifà agli avvenimenti coevi. A Vienna si percepiva nettamente un clima di sospetto e di controllo poliziesco. La monarchia temeva da un giorno all'altro qualche insurrezione. Non si parlava d'altro che di Cagliostro, il quale si era dichiarato capo degli illuminati di Baviera. Il Sant'Uffizio emanò nel 1791 il verdetto di colpevolezza e all'interno dello Stato Pontificio fu proibito a chiunque di aderire alla setta egiziana e a quella degli illuminati. In questo contesto scosso da altri eventi rivoluzionari nacque il "Flauto magico". Il volume traccia un profilo dell'opera italiana nell'arco dei suoi quattro secoli e analizza lo sviluppo della produzione operistica e i suoi protagonisti (musicisti, scrittori, cantanti) in parallelo con l'evoluzione della società italiana. La frammentazione sociale e politica del paese favorisce la proliferazione di una moltitudine di "centri periferici", da cui nasce quel regime di concorrenza che, a sua volta, influisce sulla ricchezza e varietà della produzione. Proprio queste differenze e spinte centrifughe sono all'origine di quell'eccezionale e ininterrotta produzione e della sostanziale uniformità stilistica che contraddistingue l'opera italiana.

br. Sembrerebbe tutto semplice: un compositore sceglie un libretto e lo mette in musica, rivestendo le parole di note. Per Mozart è il contrario: vengono prima la musica, poi le parole. Perché per lui la poesia deve essere 'figlia ubbidiente della musica'. E al compositore che spettano le scelte drammaturgiche, è la musica che deve determinare il 'tono', il ritmo, il senso stesso del dramma. E infatti nelle tre opere "Le nozze di Figaro", "Don Giovanni", "Così fan tutte", Mozart non si limita affatto a valorizzare gli ottimi libretti di Lorenzo Da Ponte. Scopre possibilità drammatiche latenti nelle pieghe del testo, lo reinterpreta, gli dà un senso nuovo attraverso la musica. Gli elementi della partitura interagiscono in modo miracoloso nel creare uno specifico colore, una perfetta atmosfera, un preciso ritmo drammatico. Giovanni Bietti conduce alla scoperta delle caratteristiche drammatiche e musicali delle tre opere mozartiane. Scopriremo ad esempio perché il "Don Giovanni", un'opera che comincia con un tentativo di stupro e un assassinio, e che finisce con la morte del protagonista, sia stato definito da Mozart un'opera buffa. Il senso c'è, ma non lo si capisce semplicemente dal testo: bisogna tendere l'orecchio alla musica, al suo linguaggio e alla sua stupefacente varietà.
