In-4 (236 x 167 mm), cartonnage marbré moderne à la Bradel, 24 p. Edition originale et unique, très rare, du livret d'un petit opéra que Charles Perrault rédigea à l'occasion de la naissance du premier petit-fils de Louis XIV, le duc de Bourgogne, naissance qui donna lieu à des festivités exceptionnelles à la Cour et dans toute la France. Claude Oudot, Maître de musique de l'Académie française, composa la musique, et l'oeuvre plut tant qu'elle fut représentée devant le roi, cela en dépit du monopole de l'opéra détenu par Lully. Dans cette allégorie annonciatrice de 'Cendrillon', on retrouve toute l'inventivité et la fantaisie du futur auteur des contes (cf. analyse in P. Bouchenot-Déchin, 'Perrault', Fayard, 2018, p. 213-231). Le succès de l'oeuvre n'empêcha pas la disgrâce de Charles Perrault quelques mois plus tard, sous les effets conjugués de ses ennemis, Racine, Boileau, Louvois surtout, puis de la mort de son protecteur Colbert. Restauration de papier en coin inférieur du dernier feuillet, sans atteinte au texte. WorldCat ne recense que trois exemplaires de cet ouvrage dans le monde: Getty Res. Inst., BnF et BM Lyon. Il manque aux principales bibliographies. Bon exemplaire, grand de marges.

This is the complete orchestral score not a piano reduction based upon the composer's autograph the first edition issued by P. Jurgenson and the score from Tchaikovsky's complete works. Swan Lake Tchaikovsky's first venture into ballet was only moderately successful in its first production at Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre. Choreographer Julius Reissinger's dances were not well received and those of his successor Joseph Peter Hansen fared no better. The ballet was propelled into the permanent repertoire only after a brilliant revival mounted by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov in St. Petersburg more than a year after Tchaikovsky's death from cholera.
