Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Künstlern seiner Zeit will er sich nicht an der so häufig postulierten, vermeintlichen Überlegenheit der französischen Kunst bilden, sondern ist von der Atmosphäre der Städte und Landschaften angezogen. Dieser Aufenthalt, bei dem er Paris und Nordfrankreich bereist, zeigen u. a. auch Zeichnungen und Studien mit Ansichten der Küstenstädte Trouville, Fécamp oder Deauville; die Darstellung von Menschen, wie in den späteren Jahren, findet noch keinen Eingang in sein Werk.

o.J. Feder in Schwarz, über Bleistift, auf chamoisfarbenem Velin, rechts unten von fremder Hand mit brauner Feder bezeichnet ?Adam Huber fecit ? 25.II.63?. 18,1:21,7 cm. Etwas fleckig, verso am Oberrand mit teils durchscheinenden Kleberesten. Möglicherweise Abwandlung des mythologischen Themas von Orpheus und Euridike. Der trauernde Orpheus bezauberte nach dem Tod von Euridike, die auf der Flucht vor dem Gott Aristaios auf eine Schlange trat und an ihrem Gift verstarb, mit seinem Gesang und Spiel Tiere, Mensch und Götter.
