"This is a diverse group of works of art that John enjoyed living with commingled with pieces he sold and others that were stored away eventually to be brought to light. This sale reflects his great love of Doccia porcelain epitomised in the stunning Apollo and Daphne group. His interests also extended to 19th century ceramics as evidenced by pieces from the Cantagalli workshop and of course John was an advocate of bronzes of which there is a small selection here. John bought with a vision and in recent years he purchased in the Arthur M. Sackler sale two large terracotta reliefs newly identified as by Girolamo Ticciati a sculptor also associated with the Ginori factory.
