The leaves of booklet step back with an index printed on the edges. It is similar to a thumb-indexed book but with the entire page edge acting as a navigation aid. The interior of the rear wrapper includes the statement "recipes and information compiled principally from the Professional bartenders guide with the permission of the author John T. Fitzgerald .". In addition to the recipes the booklet includes general information about spirits an illustrated guide to proper glassware and one page of snacks to accompany drinking. One small stain and a bit of rubbing to the silver-printed burgundy wrappers otherwise very good. OCLC locate three copies but not under Klein's name. H. Stiefol Co unknown books

Engraved title and seven hand-colored engraved plates. uncut.<br/><br/>Late nineteenth century crushed crimson morocco over marbled boards ruled in gilt. Spine with four raised bands decoratively tooled and lettered in gilt. Original printed gray wrappers bound-in. Occasional light smudges to margins damp-stain to lower right corner of last plate not affecting image otherwise an excellent copy of Alken's first published work. <br/><br/>A second edition appeared in 1821. Though Siltzer notes an earlier edition of 1811 no other bibliographer has noted such and there are no records of an 1811 edition found in international institutional libraries nor in auction records within the last thirty-five years. The issue under notice is found in only six libraries worldwide. <br/><br/>Alken's first hunting satire showing how the untrained rider endangers himself his hors and others around him. The work is an ironic sequel to Frankland's Indispensable Accomplishments taking the Frankland "Billesdon Coplow" scenes and captions and turning them on their ear specifically on the rider's behind as he's tossed hither and yon by a horse clearly more in control of things than the rider who is finally carried off the field of comic disaster by his friends.<br/><br/>The first of Alken's color plate books. The first prime minister of Israel and its leading personality during the first 15 years of the Jewish state. Typed Letter Signed 1 page Letter is written while Ben - Gurion is head of The Jewish Agency and written 4 days after the "Biltmore Conference". The Biltmore Conference was called was held from May 6 to May 11 1942 in the Biltmore Hotel in New York City. Ben-Gurion helped secure the adoption of the Biltmore Program which called for fulfillment of the Balfour Declaration and urged the establishment of Palestine as a Jewish commonwealth. This conference was called at the initiative of Ben-Gurion who had come to solicit the support of American Jews. Ben-Gurion was determined to seek a resolution that Jewish immigration to Palestine and the establishment of a Jewish state would proceed despite British opposition. Weizmann who objected to the idea of severing ties with Britain was outflanked at the conference. The Biltmore Program adopted at the conference and approved by the Zionist General Council in November 1942 called for unlimited Jewish immigration to Palestine and control of immigration by the Jewish commonwealth. TLS dated May 19 1942 5 x 8" on The Winthrop letterhead. Ben-Gurion writes "Thank you so much for your message of sympathy. With kind regards " Signed "D. Ben - Gurion". This book being an arrangement of the 613 commandments of Maimonides was originally attributed to Aharon Ben Joseph ha-Levi the brother of Pinhas. Text in Hebrew in two columns. Only one complete copy that we could find in the traditional auction houses the last fifty years which was at Sothebys on December 1 2008 and sold for $21250. Full modern brick-red sheep. Boards panel-ruled in blind. Boards with gilt tooled frame and gilt woven center devices. Gilt floral corner devices to boards. Spine ruled in gilt and blind and gilt floral devices in four compartments. Board edges ruled in gilt. Title-page the following leaf and the final leaf with inner margin repair. Some light marginal stains to preliminary leaves and some mostly marginal dampstaining to the final 40 approx leaves. Small red pencil note on the verso of the title-page and some pencil notations on the verso of the final leaf. Overall a very good copy. This text Sefer ha-Hinnukh Book of Education is a rearrangement of the 613 commandments of Maimonides in the Sefer ha-Mitzvot Book of Commandments. They are listed according to the weekly Torah portion. "Sefer Ha-Hinnikh one of the most popular books on the reasons for the commandments written in the thirteenth century.it is directed to students ages eighteen through twenty and is a prÈcis of Moses Maimonides work on the rational nature of the commandments. Sefer Ha-Hinnukh stresses observance of the commandments and says that performance should precede intention. A person must not try to calculate the reward for the fulfillment of a commandment but may consider its reasons. The author recommends that students read the book on Sabbath eves so that they will not run wild in the streets and states that the book is also of value to adults as a source for the study of halakhah."
