All volumes have dust jackets except Vol II ( The Frescoes by Mabel L Lang) There is some very light foxing throughout each of the volumes, and there is some light chipping and minor tears and wear to the jackets, but this is a nicely preserved set otherwise of this scarce and important work. ; 3 volumes in 4 parts as issued: Volumes I-III complete. ; 3 Volumes in 4 Parts; 4to 11" - 13" tall; Textually complete with all plates and illustrations called for. This massive work on Nestor's Palace was compiled following its excavation by the University of Cincinnati in the 1950s. Nestor was a figure immortalized by Homer, and his palace is believed to date back to 13000 B. C. It remained covered by an olive grove until the excavation, and this work details all of the finds, including tablets, seals and frescoes, etc.

Ilmenau Bernh. Friedr. Voigt 1823. . Erste Ausgabe des danach in noch drei Auflagen erschienenen Handbuchs von Wilhelm Günther Bleichrodt 1784-1850 der u.a. auch Verfasser eines architektonischen Lexikons war. Bleichrodt hatte sich vom Zimmermann zum Bauinspektor und Baurat hochgearbeitet. Mit seinem "Zeichnungsunterricht" wollte er dem Mangel an geometrischen Kenntnissen bei den Bauhandwerkern abhelfen: andernfalls entstünden "jene rohenPodukte der Empirie die schon bey ihrem Entstehen nur eine kurze Dauer versprechen" Vorw. In drei Abschnitten handelt er die beim Bau notwendigen geometrischen Kenntnisse den Bau-Riss Bauzeichnung und die Bau-Kalkulation ab. Besondere Anschaulichkeit gelang ihm wohl auch deshalb weil er das Bauen sowohl aus der Sicht des Handwerkers als auch des Architekten kannte. - Rücken angeplatzt innen gebräunt anfangs minimal fingerfleckig letzte Lage mit Brandfleck im unt. Originele uitgeversomslag in kleur, 24x17 cm., 55 pp. + 20 afbeeldingen in z/w en in kleur. Van Eesteren heeft in 1968 de David Roellprijs ontvangen op het terrein van de stedebouw. Cornelis van Eesteren (1897-1988) is een van de grootste stedenbouwkundigen van de vorige eeuw. In het begin van zijn loopbaan werkte Van Eesteren als timmerman, bouwopzichter en tekenaar. Later ging hij studeren aan de Academie van Beeldende Kunsten en Technische Wetenschappen in Rotterdam. In 1921 won hij de Prix de Rome en besloot met het prijzengeld een reis door Europa te maken om de Europese avant-garde te leren kennen. Hij bezocht het Bauhaus in Weimar en studeerde een jaar aan de Sorbonne in Parijs. Van Eesteren werd lid van de groep De Stijl en ontwierp samen met Theo van Doesburg twee huizen. Van Eesteren was een vertegenwoordiger van het functionalistisch modernisme en werkte vanuit de maatschappelijke context. Hij zocht een oplossing voor de maatschappelijke problemen van de stad die ruimtelijk opgelost konden worden.
