‎Summary This volume aims at taking the first steps towards a revaluation of urban historiography in Northwest Europe, including rather than excluding texts that do not fit common definitions. L'exposition pr sente des oeuvres ma tresses de Brancusi, dont 'Muse endormie', 'Le Baiser' et 'Leda', issues de mus es et de collections priv es du monde entier. Plusieurs pi ces seront expos es pour la premi re fois c t d'oeuvres de ses contemporains (Man Ray, Modigliani, Marcel Duchamp e.a.) et de Rodin, chez qui il fut bri vement apprenti. Constantin Brancusi est n en Roumanie en 1876, dans un petit village d'Olt nie aux pieds des Carpates, au sein d'un monde rural et archa que. Tr s jeune il quitte son village natal et, en 1894, entre l'Ecole des arts et m tiers de Cra ova o il est admis l'ann e suivante dans l'atelier de sculpture puis dans celui de sculpture sur bois. En 1898, il entre l'Ecole des Beaux-arts de Bucarest. En 1904, il traverse une partie de l'Europe pour rejoindre Munich, o il s'arr te quelque temps la Kunstakademie, avant d'arriver Paris le 14 juillet. D s son arriv e Paris, il poursuit sa formation l'Ecole des Beauxarts dans l'atelier d'un sculpteur acad mique reconnu : Antonin Merci . En 1906-1907, dipl m des beaux-arts, il expose au Salon d'Automne. Auguste Rodin, pr sident du jury, remarque son travail et lui propose de devenir metteur au point dans son atelier.‎
