‎Very Good Turkish Original typescript letter autograph signed by Behçet Uz addressed to Nurettin Kamil Irdelp, (1902-1992), son of Neset Ömer Irdelp (Darülfünûn rector), Turkish cardiologist, author of 'Reflexions' book. Ömer Behçet Uz, was born in Buldan ilçe (district) of Denizli Province, Ottoman Empire in 1893. He studied in Izmir High School, which was later renamed to Atatürk High School, and in the School of Medicine of Istanbul University. After working in Istanbul, he moved to Izmir to practice pediatrics. In 1922, he founded 'Veremle Mücadele Dernegi' ("Society to Struggle Against Tuberculosis"). In 1931, he was elected as the Mayor of Izmir. In this post, he served for ten years. He was instrumental in establishing Izmir International Fair, erecting the Atatürk Monument, establishing playgrounds, market squares, constructing some streets. In 1941, he was elected as a Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy from Denizli Province. Between 9 July 1942 and 9 March 1943, he was the Minister of Commerce in the 13th government of Turkey. Between 7 August 1946 and 10 June 1948 in the 15th and the 16th government of Turkey, he was the Minister of Health and Social Security. After the CHP lost the parliament majority in the 1950 general election, he joined the Democrat Party. Between 17 June 1954 and 9 December 1955 in the 21st government of Turkey, he was again the Minister of Health and Social Security. (Source: Wikipedia).‎

‎Jan Davidsz. de Heem (Utrecht, 1606 - Antwerp, 1684) is in zijn tijd een bijzondere kunstenaar in de Nederlanden, een regio in verdeeldheid sinds de Val van Antwerpen in 1585. Als schilder weet hij over de landsgrenzen heen de schoonheid van het stilleven naar een hoogtepunt te brengen, enerzijds door zijn hoge kwaliteitseisen, anderzijds door steeds op zoek te gaan naar vernieuwing en het genre erg levendig te houden. Dr. Fred G. Meijer is curator van deze tentoonstelling. Als gewaardeerd expert in de schilderkunst van de Noordelijke en de Zuidelijke Nederlanden in de zeventiende eeuw en meer bepaald gerenommeerd voor zijn onovertroffen kennis in de stillevenschilderkunst van die periode, is hij de uitgelezen curator voor deze tentoonstelling. In 2016 promoveerde hij op een monografisch proefschrift over het leven en oeuvre van Jan Davidsz. de Heem, dat gepland is om voor de opening van de tentoonstelling als boek te worden uitgegeven.‎

‎Het is een prachtig kunstboek, Naast inleidende en verklarende teksten van J.-M. Goris, L.C. Van Dyck en H. Van der Haegen omvat het circa 240 pagina's kleurplaten, een plaatsnamen- en zakenregister, alsmede uitvoerige bijlagen. De gepubliceerde kaarten zijn de interessantste en mooiste exemplaren die aanwezig zijn in het rijke kaartenarchief van de abdij. De hier gepresenteerde kaarten hebben zowel betrekking op de hoeven, die met hun percelen en bodemgebruik worden weergegeven, als op dorpsvormen, op de ontginning van de heide, molens, wippen, schansen, staakkapellen, stadswallen en stadspoorten. Meer in het bijzonder omvat het kaartboek een verzameling van unieke en in vele gevallen onbekende documenten zoals een prachtig beeld van een turfontginning, van een schuurkerk, van de kuip van Herentals, van de doelen der Geelse schutters en van de Franse Linie. Het kaartboek lokaliseert verder een aanzienlijk aantal oude schansen en verdwenen pleinen. Met andere woorden, allerlei levensfacetten die in de 17de en 18de eeuw relevant waren voor de Kempen en die het toenmalige en gedeeltelijk ook het hedendaagse landschap vorm geven, worden in hun rijke variatie getoond. ‎Jan Brueghel was a prominent painter in his hometown of Antwerp, a good friend and frequent collaborator of Rubens. What is perhaps less well known is that Jan was also an exceptional draughtsman. At the Snijders&Rockox House in Antwerp, some seventy works by Jan Brueghel are being brought together to create a unique exhibition. These drawings hail from collections held around the globe, including print rooms in Berlin, Paris, New York, Amsterdam, London and Stockholm, and this is the first time that they will all be on view together, presenting a significant cross-section of Jan Brueghel's authentic drawn oeuvre. To celebrate this exhibition, the publishing firm BAI, in collaboration with the Snijders&Rockox House, has published the catalogue Jan Brueghel the Elder - A Magnificent Draughtsman.The book includes a biography, essays by Dr.Ter z Gerszi and Dr Brueghel and his draughtsmanship and six chapters in which the drawings are discussed according to their theme: sojourning in Italy, riverside and village scenes, study-sheets, roads and travellers, views of the sea and ports and coastal scenes, and impressions while travelling. The authors also place Jan's draughtsmanship within the context of his complete works and the times in which he lived, in the process signalling relationships and making enlightening comparisons. Jan Brueghel de Oude was rond 1600 een van de meest prominente en succesvolle Vlaamse kunstenaars. Als een vernieuwende en creatieve denker moderniseerde Jan Brueghel de Oude de Nederlandse landschapsschilderkunst. Hij bouwde verder op het oeuvre van zijn vader Pieter Bruegel de Oude, in het bijzonder op het vlak van diens tekeningen, latere schilderwerk en drukwerk. De tentoonstelling is opgebouwd rond zes thema's die het werk van Jan Brueghel de Oude zo kenmerkend maakten.
