‎Summary In memoriam Gerhard Croll (1927-2019) Gaspar van Weerbeke was one of the most successful Franco-Flemish musicians of the second half of the fifteenth century, holding prestigious positions in the Sforza court in Milan, the Burgundian court chapel, and the papal chapel in Rome. His compositions were widely transmitted in manuscript and print sources throughout Europe, and he was one of the best represented composers in the early Italian music prints of Ottaviano Petrucci. Despite the high esteem of his contemporaries, Gaspar has up to now played only a peripheral role in Renaissance music historiography. This book is the first collection of research articles dedicated exclusively to the life and works of Gaspar. While the basic facts of Gaspar's life have long been known, the book fleshes out the details, presenting a more differentiated and complex picture of his biography. ‎Summary The Early Bronze Age site of Jebel al-Mutawwaq, located on a hill overlooking the Zarqa River in Jordan, was a thriving centre of population from the second half of the fourth millennium into the third millennium BCE. During this time, the settlement developed both in population and social complexity, undergoing the beginnings of an urbanization process that fundamentally changed the relationship between this community of the Transjordanian Highlands with the surrounding landscape, until it was completely abandoned around 2900 BCE. This volume offers a new assessment of the site by combining data from the first surveys of the site, under a Spanish team led by J. A. Fernandez-Tresguerres, with the new results from six seasons of excavations led by teams from Perugia in Italy, and San Esteban in Spain. Dieses Werk, das weite Verbreitung vor allem im Umkreis der (Unions-)Konzilien des 15. Jahrhunderts erfahren hat, stellt auf lateinischer Seite die erste systematische und griechisch-patristisch untermauerte Behandlung jener vier Konfliktpunkte dar, die in dieser Form von nun an standardm ig auf der Agenda der ost-westlichen Debatten standen (Filioque, Azymen, Purgatorium/Eschatologie und Primat Roms). Zudem bietet der Traktat in Form eines Appendix einen reichen Schatz an klassischen und zeitgen ssischen Quellen, die zum Teil singul re berlieferungszeugen sind. ‎Summary Between the thirteenth and the sixteenth centuries, the cult of the Virgin Mary underwent significant changes, a shift clearly revealed by an increase in artistic representations of Mary, as well as a flourishing devotional literature in her honour, written in both Latin and the vernacular. One aspect of this change was a broader attention to Mary's genealogical line, and in particular to her relationship with St Anne. The result was not only a renewed focus on the vita Annae, but also a significant overlap in how these two women were represented, juxtaposed, and perceived. This volume traces the often significant iconographic flexibility in terms of both how the Virgin Mary and Saint Anne were presented and perceived, and what can be termed a permeability between visual representations of the two saints. Verso mit Widmung des Künstlers, datiert, bezeichnet und signiert ?Hannover 11ten May 1829 August Heinrich Andreae?.‎

‎Andreae studierte Architektur zuerst bei Witting in Hannover, anschließend seit 1823 bei F. Weinbremmer (1766-1826) in Karlsruhe und nach dessen Tod bei Gg. Moller (1784-1852) in Darmstadt. Nach Reisen in Süddeutschland ließ er sich in Hannover nieder, wo er bereits am 1.5.1829 Stadtbaumeister wurde. Schon als junger Mann hat Andreae die alten Bauwerke, besonders in Hildesheim, studiert und die Früchte dieses Studiums zeigten sich bald in seinen Bauten. Er war aber auch ein sehr guter Zeichner und Architekturmaler.‎

‎Summary Andrew of Saint Victor was one of the most prominent biblical scholars of the twelfth century. He was a regular canon of the Parisian abbey of St Victor, which in the twelfth century had developed into a prestigious center of spiritual learning, closely connected to the nascent university in Paris. Because of his frequent use of Jewish exegetical materials, Andrew's commentaries are a rich source for the history both of biblical hermeneutics and of inter-religious dialogue during the Middle Ages. His Isaiah commentary caused outrage among medieval Christian scholars because it eschewed traditional christological interpretations, and instead offered a reading "secundum Hebraeos." Scholars have seen Andrew of St Victor as standing at the cradle of a scholarly interest in the Biblical text, which influenced scholars such as the fourteenth-century Franciscan Nicholas of Lyra, and, in the long run, reformers such as John Wycliff, Martin Luther, and John Calvin.‎
