Frankfurt am Main, Museum Giersch, 2011, Abb. 37. Ferentino ist ein mittelalterliches Städtchen in landschaftlich schöner Lage zwischen dem Apennin und dem Sacco-Tal gelegen. Seine Stadtmauern, in denen sich vorrömische, römische und mittelalterliche Bauelemente verbinden, gehören zu den schönsten des an antiken Stadtbefestigungen reichen Gebiets.‎

‎Corrodi bezeichnet mit ?Porta Romana? die römische ?Porta Maggiore? oder auch ?Porta Casamari? genannt aus dem 1. Jahrhundert v. Chr., die, wie die hier gezeigte, aus zwei Rundbögen besteht. Bereits 1832 erreichte Corrodi über Genua und Pisa Rom, wo er sich in F.L. Catels (1778-1856) Atelier ausbildete und bald auch zu der von ihm am meisten bevorzugten Malweise, der Aquarelltechnik, fand. In Rom, wo er fast sein gesamtes Leben verbrachte, wurde er von hochgestellten Persönlichkeiten wie z.B. Zar Nikolaus protegiert und war sehr erfolgreich. Auch das englische Königshaus kaufte zahlreiche seiner Werke. Corrodis Haus in Rom war bis zu seinem Tod beliebter Treffpunkt u.a. seiner Schweizer Landsleute.‎

‎Summary The Homily of the Unworthy Priest Cosmas Against the Newly-Appeared Heresy of Bogomil (10th century) is a key source for the religious history of the Balkan peninsula. It is one of the earliest and richest sources for the rise of the dualistic religious movement of Bogomilism in the early Middle Ages. Written in a period of war and crisis of the Bulgarian Empire Cosmas sermon is also an important work of Eastern Christian Theology, calling for a thorough reform of clergy and monasticism. During the subsequent centuries Cosmas' work was copied and excerpted by Bulgarian, Serbian and Russian churchmen who were seeking inspiration in their struggle for ecclesial reform and against religious dissent of various heretical movements. In the processes of national identity construction on the Balkans during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries Cosmas' Homily again played a remarkable role. The present study provides the first complete translation into a western language of Begunov's 1973 critical edition. The German translation is accompanied by an introduction and a commentary.
