Il est directeur de l'Acad mie des Beaux-Arts de Watermael-Boitsfort de 1958 1986. En 1951, il rejoint La Jeune Peinture Belge. La m me ann e, il fonde le "C ramique de Dour" avec son pouse Simone Tits. Il est l'un des chefs de file du n or alisme et r dige les manifestes de 1958 et de 1966. Apr s les journ es de mai 1968, il fonde le "Mouvement r aliste" en 1969. Ses peintures murales les plus connues sont "Notre temps" (1974-76) dans la station de m tro bruxelloise Hankar[6], et l'Universit catholique de Louvain Louvain-la-Neuve, (avec le "Collectif d'art public" qu'il a fond ) une ?uvre de 410m sur le th me "Qu'est-ce qu'un intellectuel ?‎
