Juni 2010 in Saint-Pierre-de-Vassols, Kanton Mormoiron, Provence) war ein deutscher Maler, Zeichner, Bildhauer und Grafiker. Er gestaltete in seinen neosurrealistischen Bildern und Skulpturen überwiegend erotische und mythologische Themen. Wunderlich wurde als zweites Kind der Eheleute Horst und Gertrude Wunderlich (geb. Arendt) geboren. Nach einer Zeit als Flakhelfer und Kriegsgefangener zog er zu seiner Mutter nach Eutin, absolvierte dort am Johann-Heinrich-Voß-Gymnasium das Abitur und besuchte anschließend die Schloßkunstschule in der Orangerie des Eutiner Schlosses. 1947 wurde er Student an der Kunsthochschule in Hamburg, wo er sich in der Klasse Freie Graphik bei Willi Tietze einschrieb. Seine Mitschüler waren unter anderen Horst Janssen und Reinhard Drenkhahn. Nach einer Unterbrechung nahm er das Studium 1950 wieder auf, das er 1951 bei Willem Grimm abschloss. Anschließend wirkte er als Lehrbeauftragter an der Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg für die Techniken der Lithografie und Radierung. Ebenfalls 1951 druckte er für Emil Nolde (?Der König und seine Mannen?, Radierung) und 1952 für Oskar Kokoschka die Grafik-Suite ?Ann Eliza Reed? mit elf Lithografien. Mit dem Verdienst verbrachte er drei Monate auf Ibiza. 1955 erhielt er ein Stipendium des Kulturkreises der Deutschen Industrie. Vogel im Weidendamm Eberswalde Nach einer frühen, im Wesentlichen realistischen Schaffensphase entwickelt er ab etwa 1959 den für ihn charakteristischen Stil. Seine frühen Werke zeigen zerstückelte, disproportionierte Körper vor leerem Hintergrund. In den sechziger Jahren vor allem nimmt Wunderlich immer wieder Impulse aus verschiedenen Kunstrichtungen, hierbei vorzüglich Elemente aus Art Déco und Jugendstil, in sein Werk auf und verarbeitet sie seinem Stil gemäß. 1960 kam es zur Beschlagnahmung des Lithographie-Zyklus ?qui s'explique? durch die Hamburger Staatsanwaltschaft wegen unsittlicher Darstellungen. Die Rückgabe erfolgt 1985 ohne Kommentar durch die Staatsanwaltschaft. 1961 erhält Wunderlich den Kunstpreis der Jugend für Graphik, mit dem Preisgeld verlegte er seinen Wirkungskreis nach Paris. 1962 arbeitete er in der Werkstatt Desjobert in Paris, erstmals konnte er vom Verkauf seiner Lithografien leben. 1963 kehrte er nach Hamburg zurück und wurde (bis 1968) ? als Nachfolger von Georg Gresko ? Professor an der Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg und begann 1969 unter dem Einfluss von Salvador Dalí mit der Erstellung von Skulpturen und Plastiken aus Bronze. 1970 setzte sich der Künstler eingehend mit dem Werk Dürers auseinander und es entstand eine Serie, in der er Dürer-Motive surrealistisch verfremdete. Den größten Teil seines Werkes umfassen Lithografien; ab 1968 schuf Wunderlich aber auch Plastiken als dreidimensionale Abbilder seiner gemalten und gezeichneten Gegenstände und Figuren. Das Kreishaus des Kreises Barnim am Eberswalder Marktplatz trägt den Namen Paul-Wunderlich-Haus und zeigt eine ständige Ausstellung von Werken Paul Wunderlichs. Beim Eröffnungsfest am 1. Juli 2007 gaben neben dem Duo Pond auch Tangerine Dream ein Paul Wunderlich gewidmetes Konzert. Paul Wunderlich war seit 1971 mit der Fotografin Karin Székessy verheiratet und hat mit ihr gemeinsam einige Kunstprojekte realisiert. Der mit Wunderlich eng befreundete Fritz J. Raddatz hat diese Zusammenarbeit in dem Buch Correspondenzen dokumentiert und kommentiert. Wunderlich lebte und arbeitete in Hamburg und Saint-Pierre-de-Vassols (Provence), wo er nach kurzer schwerer Krankheit 2010 verstarb. Weiße Originalbroschur. 21x14 cm‎ ‎* Die WerkstattReihe war eine Buchreihe der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart, die im Jahre 1996 von Wolfgang Kermer gegründet und bis zu ihrer Einstellung im Jahre 2006 redaktionell betreut und herausgegeben wurde. In der als Ergänzung zu den Beiträgen zur Geschichte der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart (1975?2004) eingerichteten WerkstattReihe wurden Texte von gegenwärtigen oder ehemaligen Akademielehrern sowie Beiträge über diese veröffentlicht. Dabei sollte der Bogen weit gespannt sein, ?Erfahrungen aus der experimentellen Werkstattarbeit [konnten] neben rein biographischen Darstellungen stehen, Äußerungen zur Kunsttheorie neben denen der Kunst- und Hochschulpolitik?. (Vorbemerkung des Herausgebers, Bd. 1). Da die gesamte Herstellung in den grafischen Werkstätten, insbesondere denen des Instituts für Buchgestaltung erfolgte, war Teamarbeit mit den dortigen Lehrkräften gefordert. So stammte von Horst Wöhrle nicht nur das Label der Reihe und ? unter Verwendung der Schriftart Gill Sans ? die Typografie bzw. Satzgestaltung (Apple Macintosh/QuarkXPress für den Innenteil, Umschlag Bleihandsatz), er koordinierte auch den weiteren Herstellungsprozess, was erheblich dazu beitrug, dass die Reihe nach Ablauf eines Jahrzehnts sechzehn Nummern umfasste. Den Offsetdruck des Textteils führte überwiegend Franz Sperker aus, den Laserdruck (Print-on-Demand) Horst Wöhrle, Scans fertigten Tekle Ghebre und Wolfgang Weinmann, der auch den Hochdruck des Umschlags ausführte. Die buchbinderische Verarbeitung (chinesische Blockbindung/Klebebindung) leistete anfänglich Horst Pichl, dann Katja Liebig. August 1784 in Biberach an der Riß; ? 23. Juni 1872 in Berlin) war ein deutscher Maler und Restaurator. Christian Xeller war der Sohn eines Weißgerbers und betrieb bis zu seinem 18. Lebensjahr das Handwerk seines Vaters. Seiner Neigung zu Malerei folgend kehrte er jedoch diesem Broterwerb den Rücken und besuchte von 1804 bis 1806 die Düsseldorfer Akademie. Richtungsweisend sollte dort die Bekanntschaft mit Peter von Cornelius werden, mit dem Xeller eine lebenslange Freundschaft verband. Mit einem Reisestipendium ausgestattet, begleitete er den Freund im Herbst 1811 nach Rom, wurde dort in den Lukasbund aufgenommen und konvertierte 1812 zum katholischen Glauben.[1] Als aber weitere Geldmittel aus der Heimat ausblieben, musste er zu Anfang des Jahres 1813 nach Deutschland zurückkehren. Während der folgenden vier Jahre hielt er sich nacheinander in Biberach, München, Nürnberg, Frankfurt und Aschaffenburg auf, um sich 1817 für mehrere Jahre in Heidelberg niederzulassen. In Heidelberg restaurierte Xeller Gemälde für die Brüder Boisserée, aus deren Sammlung er auch einige Werke zeichnete und radierte. Außerdem betätigte er sich als Bildnismaler und gab Unterricht; einer seiner Schüler war der Landschaftsmaler Karl Rottmann, ein anderer Georg Philipp Schmitt. Heidelbergs Umgebung und der Austausch mit den ansässigen Künstlern regten Xeller zu verschiedenen Landschaftszeichnungen an. Einige davon entstanden auf einer im Herbst des Jahres 1818 mit Freunden unternommenen Rheinreise. In seinem künstlerischen Schaffen kam Christian Xeller immer mehr von Landschaftsdarstellungen sowie von den religiösen und historischen Bildern früherer Zeit ab und beschränkte sich zunehmend aufs Porträtieren und aufs Kopieren alter Meister. Diese Entwicklung mag ihn veranlasst haben, 1825 einer Einladung nach Berlin zu folgen, um dort unter Jakob Schlesingers Leitung Gemälde für die Berliner Gemäldegalerie zu restaurieren. Seine Leistung als Restaurator fand in Berlin großen Anklang und verschaffte ihm im Oktober 1830 eine feste Anstellung mit 500 Thalern Gehalt jährlich. Nach Schlesingers Tod im Jahr 1855 übernahm er die Oberleitung der Restaurierungsarbeiten, und 1857 wurde ihm der Titel eines Professors verliehen. Im Alter von 80 Jahren schloss Xeller einen überaus glücklichen Ehebund mit Wilhelmine Ponath, der 56-jährigen Tochter seiner langjährigen Hauswirtin. ‎YAGI Kiho & Unkei artists father & son‎ ‎A collection of ca. 60 brush and ink drawings and paintings many of which are in various colors from the Yagi family archive some by Kiho others by Unkei‎ ‎The sheets range from 640 x 1430 mm. to smaller. Kyoto: 19th century. The Yagis father and son were notable artists of 19th-century Japan. The father Kiho 1806-76 was born in today's Shiga Prefecture and lived mainly in Kyoto. He studied painting under Keibun Matsumura of the Shijo school and Giho Yamagata of the Kano school. Kiho excelled at figure painting and bird-and-flower painting and was the subject along with his teachers of a recent exhibition 2009 at the Nagahama Castle Historical Museum in Shiga a catalogue was issued at the time. His work is found at the Kyoto Palace and the Higashi Honganji Temple also in Kyoto. His son Unkei d. 1892 also had a successful career as an artist concentrating in the same genres. This collection of drawings which are mostly of natural history subjects landscapes and dragons reflects the very considerable skills of the Yagis and must be seen to be appreciated.
