Amsterdam: "Aux depens de la Compagnie" n.d. 1759. First edition in a most attractive decorated binding of this pioneering survey of the Prussian army. Seyfart 1727-86 a military administrator was the first to systematically compose biographies of units and generals in the Prussian army. The present work provides detailed histories of units in the order of their creation. It describes infantry cavalry dragoon hussar garrison skirmisher and grenadier units. The finely engraved and large table approximately 520 mm long notes the name of every regiment in the Prussian army at the beginning of 1759 as well as the rank of each unit's ranking officer the colors of the unit uniform many heightened in gold and the number of men and horses. At the bottom of the table Seyfart determines that the Prussian army consists of 204546 men and 38562 horses in 121 regiments. This large vintage photograph showing a horse-drawn parade float model of Shackleton's Nimrod with the ship's name and "Lieut Shackleton in Antarctic Regions" painted on the side. Manning the float are 6 young men and a small boy all in cold weather gear.<br/><br/>It's a wonderful demonstration of the interest in polar exploration during the Heroic Age. Many of the expeditions enjoyed send off and welcome parades and this is almost certainly a relic from one of these for the Nimrod expedition 1907-09. The largest of all parades for the Nimrod was actually held in Lyttleton New Zealand where as many as 50000 people turned out for the send off. Indeed the photographer here Preston was based in Penzance. The image was almost certainly taken by him or his son Richard. <br/><br/>The Nimrod Expedition 1907-9 was Shackleton's first Antarctic expedition as leader - he had previously sailed under Scott on the Discovery Expedition. Shackelton was attempting to be the first to reach the South Pole. Though he failed at this the expedition was notable for reaching the farthest South point just over 100 miles from the pole and for the ascent of Mount Erebus. Shackleton returned to England a hero and was subsequently knighted by Edward VII. unknown books

Comprises of Shayan's distinctly apocalyptic vision of the world; penned in a seeminlgy psychographic freewheeling-style disregarding traditional grammar and structure. Replete with grave ominous assertions that "mankind is not yet existing" "humanity has not yet been created" and that "humanity must still be created". Writing at length he goes on to say that "mankind has been lashed tortured and killed. There are we who realize the days of Apocalypsis. The unshakable foundations of earth have been blown up by dynamite. World's hard solid has been melted in flames of universal fire-brand. The fused fiery mass still vibrates by the pains of agony of the dismembered human bodies of dying faces of groaning malediction and pain of death. The furious and bloody mass of human flesh rolls down into the abyss of hell". A harrowing vision no doubt shaped by the immense scale of death and destruction wrought by all sides over the course of the Second World War. The Lviv-born author Wolhodymyr Shayan was a noted Ukrainian philosopher linguist philologist Orientalist-Sanskritologist religious scholar one of the founders of the Ukrainian Free Academy of Sciences and widely considered a pioneer of Ukrainian Rodnovery or Slavic Native Faith who was particularly active during the interwar period roughly between 1918-1939. A remarkable artifact of Ukrainian new paganism by one of its modern founders and forming part of the rich literary output by Ukrainian exiles in displaced persons camps throughout the allied territories following the end of World War Two. Le bras droit est raporté au-dessus du coude ». .Historique: Paiements mentionnés par les sources comptables à Georges Sibrayque pour une figure pour le parterre d’Eau d’avril 1675 à octobre 1682 travail explicitement mentionné en cours d’avril 1675 à août 1680.Parfait paiement à Jean Cornu le 6 juin 1694 pour deux figures dont l’une « commencée par Sibraique … représentant l’Afrique ».Modèle en plâtre représenté sur la gravure d’Israël Silvestre datée de 1682 disposé au bosquet de la Renommée avant décembre 1680 date d’approbation du guide de Combes et vraisemblablement retiré en 1683 afin d’être remplacé par la version en marbre."Provenance:Né en 1906 à Lezay Deux-Sèvres Jacques Cathy a exercé d’abord la profession de caricaturiste à l’hebdomadaire « Le Rire ». Il a rejoint vers 1927 l’équipe du Cabaret « La Vache Enragée » conduite par Roger Toziny. Jacques Cathy poursuit sa carrière de chansonnier après le décès de Toziny en 1939 et après la guerre il conduit parallèlement une carrière d’acteur dans le cinéma.
