Lees mee hoe deze speciale editie van de vrijdagkrant tot stand kwam. Waarom ? Omdat ik het boeiend vind om iets te maken voor zo?n groot publiek. Ik kan de krant echt naar mijn hand zetten. Zo laat ik De Standaard grafisch aansluiten bij wat ik doe, bij mijn eigen werk. Mijn eigen leefwereld.? Thursday was the internationally acclaimed fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck De Standaard. It is a tradition in this house for one day each year the newspaper to hand. Agnes Goyvaerts dook met de ontwerper in zijn archieven en sprak met belangrijke mensen uit zijn omgeving. Paul Boudens, die reeds jarenlang met Van Beirendonck samenwerkt, gaf het boek vorm. Het levert een boeiend beeld op van een interessante mens. Agnes Goyvaerts (1947) is journaliste bij De Morgen. Ze volgt de Belgische ontwerpers sinds het prille begin en is co-auteur van Mode in de Lage Landen/België. Daarnaast verschenen twee bundelingen van haar restaurantcolumns Het Proefkonijn. Walter Van Beirendonck (1957) volgde een opleiding aan de modeafdeling van de Koninklijke Academie voor Schone kunsten in Antwerpen en was een van de ambitieuze studenten die internationaal bekend werden als 'de zes van Antwerpen'. Momenteel heeft hij een eigen dames- en herencollectie, staat hij aan het hoofd van de afdeling mode van de Koninklijke Academie Antwerpen, leidt hij het ontwerpteam van Scapa Sports en runt hij samen met partner Dirk Van Saene de shop annex kunstgalerie Walterstore in Antwerpen.

This is a very good hardcover copy in a very good dust jacket. The jacket is all there, no chips, just a little toned. The book itself is also very good, the blue cloth covers with title in gilt fine. Inside the endpapers and preliminary pages a little offset because of the highly acidic paper, otherwise clean throughout. This survey of women's undergarments begins with the 16th century and ends in the mid 1920's. Illustrated in black & white with 115 drawings and photographs. Bibliography. As far as we know this is the only complete set available online is still in the publisher's original shrinkwrap and has no flaws pristine beauties. Please note: "Loose" copies of just the Insert available online have serious flaws yet command hundreds of dollars. Since this was after all an ephemeral magazine issue 99.9% of remaining copies of the Supplement/Insert are opened the shrinkwrap removed separated from the Magazine Issue itself in heavily used soiled condition.
