Her circle included Emil White Lawrence Ferlinghetti Henry Miller Kenneth Patchen William Everson James Broughton and Jack Spicer among others. First edition first issue. Published by New Directions but printed in Ireland with the four tipped-in black & white photos present. A few small spots to the beige cloth covers with some light bumping to the corners else fine. Like the ancient colossus that stood over the harbor of Rhodes Henry Miller’s The Colossus of Maroussi stands as a seminal classic in travel literature. It has preceded the footsteps of prominent travel writers such as Pico Iyer and Rolf Potts. The book Miller would later cite as his favorite began with a young woman’s seductive description of Greece.
