Gebonden, Hardcover, 320pp met prachtige illustraties en zilvermerken. ISBN 9789074311922. Bij wijze van inleiding vangt het boek aan met een samenvatting van de historiek van het ambacht. De hoofdbrok bestaat uit de herwerking van het prosopografische deel van de masterscriptie van Emile Gezels, voorgedragen in 2007 aan de UGent. De biografische nota's erin werden aangevuld met gegevens, verzameld door dr. Johan Dambruyne (Rijksarchief Beveren). De gegevens werden vervolgens getoetst aan de Gentse insculpatieplaten bewaard in het STAM, wat vaak leidde tot nieuwe inzichten. Uit de 15de en 16de eeuw bleven slechts een twintigtal voorwerpen bewaard, die met zekerheid aan Gentse ateliers konden toegeschreven worden. Ze werden allemaal, soms voor het eerst, geillustreerd met kwalitatieve foto's.

Elle comprendtrois parties: 1) La première partie concerne la réglementation del'orfèvrerie visant à garantir le titre du métal précieux, à contrôler parle doyen et les jurés du métier. 2) La seconde partie décrit lespoinçons utilisés par le métier sur l'argenterie pour confirmer que lapièce a été essayée et qu'elle est conforme à la réglementation. À Namurl'année de l'essai ne figure sur les pièces qu'à partir de 1682. Elle estindiquée jusqu'en 1750 par période de quelques années et à partir de 1750année par année. Des photos des poinçons de garantie figurent dans lelivre. Le tableau de ces poinçons est presque complet à partir de 1682. Iln'en manque que trois. 3) La troisième partie comprend le registredes orfèvres connus avec, dans la mesure du possible: a) leséléments biographiques, tels que la naissance, le mariage et le décès, b) la carrière de l'orfèvre avec la date d'inscription comme apprenti,comme maître, ainsi que les fonctions éventuelles exercées dans le métier, c) quand il est connu, une photo du poinçon personnel de l'orfèvre. Des index chronologiques et alphabétiques des noms et des poinçonsdes orfèvres complètent l'ouvrage. Il s'agit donc d'un précieuxlivre de référence pour les musées et les collectionneurs d'argenterieancienne de Namur. De studie van de edelsmeden van Namen vanhet ancien régime is op dezelfde wijze gedaan als deze betreffendede edelsmeden van Brussel (W. van Dievoet, Edelsmeden van het ancienrégime met merken van Brussel), gepubliceerd in 2019. Ze omvat driedelen: 1) Het eerste deel betreft de reglementering van hetedelsmeedwerk met het doel het gehalte van het edelmetaal te waarborgen enhet te doen verifiëren door de deken en de gezworenen van het ambacht. 2) Het tweede deel beschrijft de stempels die door het ambacht op hetzilverwerk aangebracht werden om te bevestigen dat het stuk gekeurd werden dat het conform was met het reglement. Te Namen komt het jaar van dekeuring slechts voor op de stukken van na 1682 per periode van enkelejaren, en vanaf 1750 jaar per jaar tot 1793. Foto's van die keurmerkenstaan in het boek. De tabel is bijna volledig, op drie na. 3) Hetderde deel omvat het register van bekende zilversmeden met in de mate vanhet mogelijke: a) de biografische gegevens, zoals het jaar vangeboorte, huwelijk, en overlijden, b) de loopbaan van de zilversmid,met het jaar van zijn inschrijving als leerknaap, als meester-zilversmid,evenals zijn eventuele functies in het ambacht, c) de foto van zijnpersoonlijk merk. Chronologische en alfabetische indexen van denamen en merken van de edelsmeden vervolledigen het boek. Het boekis dus een waardevol naslagwerk voor musea en verzamelaars van antiekzilverwerk van Namen.

Brugse edelsmeden van het ancien régime
softcover, 320 p. ill. merktekens, Language: Nederlands. Dit boek (336 blz., waaronder 16 kleurenfoto?s, formaat 16 x 24 cm) is een studie van de edelsmeden van Brugge van het ancien régime. In de inleiding wordt een kort overzicht gegeven van de reglementering betreffende het ambacht en van de verplichting van de edelsmeden om hun werken te maken met goud of zilver van een minimum gehalte. Dit gehalte moest door de gezworenen van het ambacht geverifieerd worden en, indien het goed was, gegarandeerd met hun merken. In deel II worden de merken van de gezworenen onderzocht en, in de mate van het mogelijke, geïdentificeerd. Er was al vroeg een Brugs merk in de vorm van een leeuwenkop, en vanaf 1612 aangevuld met een gekroonde gotische letter b. Een ander merk, jaarletter genoemd, was een letter van het alfabet die in principe van jaar tot jaar veranderd werd, zodat men de deken en de gezworenen van het ambacht kon terug vinden, die het gehalte hadden gekeurd. De tabel van dit deel geeft de gekende jaarletters weer. In deel III worden de edelsmeden vermeld, die in Brugge hebben gewerkt van 1567 tot 1798. Zij moesten ook hun persoonlijk merk op hun werkstukken slaan. Dat merk werd bij het ambacht op een koperen plaat ingeslagen naast de naam van de edelsmid, zodat men de maker van het werk bij betwisting kon identificeren. Een dergelijke plaat met zilversmeden, ingeschreven tussen 1567 en 1636, is te Brugge nog bewaard, en een archiefstuk is een kopie van een verloren plaat met de merken en namen van meesters, ingeschreven van 1713 tot 1759. Tussen de periodes van die documenten zijn aanvullingen mogelijk bij middel van andere documenten en van zilverwerk. De edelsmeden worden in chronologische volgorde weergegeven met, zo mogelijk, hun biografische gegevens, hun functies bij het ambacht en hun merk of merken. In deel IV worden meesters vermeld die werkten in Diksmuide, Eeklo, Nieuwpoort, Oostende en Veurne. Ze waren niet talrijk genoeg om een ambacht te kunnen oprichten, en moesten hun werken laten keuren door het ambacht van Brugge. In deel V is een index van de meesters en van de merken opgenomen, die toelaat de gegevens van 512 edelsmeden en ongeveer 450 merken gemakkelijk terug te vinden

Vervolgens werden de bekende merken, waarin de initiaal van de naam vermeld staat, getoetst aan de namen en de activiteitsperiode van de edelsmeden, waardoor een aanzienlijk aantal merken van zilversmeden met een relatieve waarschijnlijkheid konden toegeschreven worden. Het boek omvat 95 biografische nota's en 24 merken van Brugse edelsmeden van de 19de eeuw. Nieuw boek. Edition francaise! Sur les orfevres Bruges de l'Ancien Regime etaient tres peu d'etudes consacrees, mais sur celui de la dix-neuvieme siecle est encore tres peu connu. Ce livre vise a combler cette lacune aussi bien que possible. Premierement, les donnees biographiques des orfevres et la periode de leur activite ont ete recuperes. Les marques etaient alors, ou l'initiale du nom indique, et verifie les noms et la periode d'activite des orfevres, qui marque un nombre significatif d'orfevres avec une probabilite relative pourrait etre attribuee. Le livre comprend 95 notes biographiques et 24 marques de Bruges orfevres du 19e siecle. Nouveau livre.
