Note : Avocat, bibliophile et collectionneur, mécène de plusieurs surréalistes et de nombreux artistes, Edmond Bomsel finança l’ouverture de la galerie Gradiva d’André Breton (1937). Il fut également actionnaire des éditions du Sagittaire où parut Cours naturel. Après-guerre, il fut un des fondateurs de la Compagnie de l’Art brut (1948). La gravure a été tirée par Lacourière. La septième gravure de Dali pour illustrer un recueil de ses amis poètes surréalistes : André Breton (2), Paul Éluard (2), René Char (1), Georges Hugnet (1) et Tristan Tzara (1). Très bel exemplaire personnalisé, dans une reliure de Georges Leroux en phase totale avec les poèmes de Paul Éluard. Reliure probablement inspirée et dans le goût de Lucienne Thalheimer. Edmond Bomsel avait effectivement commandité plusieurs reliures à celle-ci et Leroux le savait. Lucienne Thalheimer est le relieur surréaliste par excellence (Yves Peyré, Histoire de la reliure de création 2015, p. 51) et Georges Leroux pendant des années celui des bibliophiles et collectionneurs des ouvrages surréalistes comme Filippachi, Kahn, Destribats…
