DALI, Salvador; BOCCACIO, Giovanni
Decameron.
Paris Michèle Broutta et Pamela Verlag 1972. . Limited edition numbered 57 of 150; folio 48 x 35 cm; complete with 10 drypoints printed in colours each signed by Dali in pencil each numbered 57/150 on Richard de Bas paper; each protected by transparent sheet text in Italian printed title and justification pages printed cream dust wrapper slightly marked all loose and housed in red cloth foldover box with title lettered in silver; a fine copy.
An excellent example of the complete portfolio of the Italian text edition of this work on Richard de Bas paper with each coloured etching numbered 57/150 and each signed by Dali in pencil.

This collection of erotic love stories first written in the fourteenth century are represented by Dali's highly erotic evocative and ethereal imagery. He captures masterfully the tragic and the comic in his illustration. The images are as follows: 'La Péché Partegé' La fiancé du roi de Garbe Le diable de Enfer l'ange Gabriel L'enfer des Beautés cruelles Le femme adultère le tonneau Blanchefleur Le jument de compère Pierre La ressuscitée.

The Richard de Bas paper is of exceptional quality and is produced in a mill dating back to the sixteenth century. This paper was much favoured by Dali and other artists such as Picasso. It was also used for the sole copy of the Constitution of the 5th French Republic of 1958 and the Nobel Prize diplomas have also been written on Richard de Bas paper.
Michler-LApsinger 552-561; Field 72-8 Paris, Michèle Broutta et Pamela Verlag, 1972. hardcover

Dali, Salvador
Hiden Faces. Translated by Haakon M. Chevalier.
New York: The Dial Press 1944. First Edition. Octavo black cloth hardcover gilt letters xviii 413 pp. Very Good with lightly rubbed edges light foxing & tiny hairline tear to title. From jacket: As was to be expected Dali’s first venture as a novelist has produced a highly original disconcerting and fascinating masterpiece that has the passion intensity and brilliant color that characterize his paintings. Through a small number of characters who with their private passions are caught up in the maelstrom of history the author evokes a decadent European society as it sinks into vice sterility and irresponsibility and becomes engulfed in the catastophe of war.Love is the central theme and it is played with several varieations one or two of which are the strangest to be found in literature since the writings of Marquis de Sade. War politics friendship loyalty love of the land heroism are among the subsidiary themes which the author develops in his own original way. The Dial Press, 1944. First Edition. hardcover
