The card is illustrated on the recto with a reproduction of a drawing by Joan Miró accompanied by a phrase from Saint Teresa of Avila envelope included. The sunny winter favors PAB's good humor: "". une bonne année commencée avec le soleil ce qui donne envie de circuler."" "". a good year begun with sunshine which makes one want to get about."" who suggests to his bookseller friend that he come to lunch at his home soon. Poet painter engraver Pierre-André Benoit or P.A.B. was above all a typographer and printer who created more than 400 illustrated works bringing together the greatest post-war poets with the most talented painters of the second half of the twentieth century. P.A.B.'s productions were first realized on a small press installed in his apartment in Alès. They brought together his poet friends René Char André Breton Paul Éluard Paul Claudel Erik Satie Tristan Tzara and his painter friends Joan Miró Georges Braque Jean Dubuffet Francis Picabia Marcel Duchamp and Pablo Picasso. In 1949 he began to use celluloid engraving which allowed him to make the prints himself and to create the books entirely. From his modern château at Rivières-de-Theyrargues in the Gard he would end up illustrating his works himself while continuing to work with his faithful friends Camille Bryen and Pierre Alechinsky. San Francisco 1977. Very good. Two-page promotional kit 8 ½" x 11 photomechanically printed on the recto only signed by promotions manager Rusty Cramer on the second page; one-page TLS. Folded for mailing with some light wear and toning mostly along the margins; otherwise very good. Promotional material for The Nuns' show on June 18 1977 at the Rio Theater in Rodeo California paired with a letter from Jennifer Miro that reads "Dear Mr. Elwood Thankyou sic for your kind words. By the way I am the blonde young lady at the keyboards. Very Truly Yours Jennifer Miro of The Nuns". Philip Elwood was the influential music critic for the San Francisco Examiner. Formed in 1975 The Nuns were one of the founding acts of the early San Francisco punk scene. Jennifer Miro joined the band in 1976 as vocalist and keyboardist and she vocalist Jeff Olener and guitarist Alejandro Escovedo formed the group's core. By 1977 The Nuns had created a worldwide buzz and a year later opened for the Sex Pistols at San Francisco's Winterland. The band split up in 1979 though there have been several later reunions. From the promotional material: "The Nuns are part of the new wave of punk rock phenomenon that is taking the country by storm. Parents have wondered for years what new leap into degeneracy their children would take and now the answer is here: Punk Rock! La gravure est tirée en noir sur un feuillet volant (papier : 238 x 188 mm, cuivre : 175 x 135 mm). De même, l'exemplaire est numéroté XXV au colophon et paraphé à l'encre par l'éditeur. First edition and first printing illustrated with 4 hors-texte phototypie plates reproducing gouaches by Tanguy, inserted loose (as issued) is Tanguy's original etching (leaf : 238 x 188 mm, plate : 175 x 135 mm). Original publisher's printed wrappers as issued : a grey jacket with illustration after Tanguy in white with excised section to front cover and beneath a yellow patterned wrapper with printed text in red. A mint copy of the 30 from the édition de tête on pur fil Johannot numbered XXV in Roman numerals and with Tanguy's original etching also numbered XXV by ink. Only these one have the etching. The original wrappers for the book were designed especially for the first 230 'exemplaires de luxe' of the book, were executed after the maquette by Pierre Faucheux after Tanguy's original drawing.
