Folded for mailing with some light wear and toning mostly along the margins; otherwise very good. Promotional material for The Nuns' show on June 18 1977 at the Rio Theater in Rodeo California paired with a letter from Jennifer Miro that reads "Dear Mr. Elwood Thankyou sic for your kind words. By the way I am the blonde young lady at the keyboards. Very Truly Yours Jennifer Miro of The Nuns". Philip Elwood was the influential music critic for the San Francisco Examiner. Formed in 1975 The Nuns were one of the founding acts of the early San Francisco punk scene. Jennifer Miro joined the band in 1976 as vocalist and keyboardist and she vocalist Jeff Olener and guitarist Alejandro Escovedo formed the group's core. By 1977 The Nuns had created a worldwide buzz and a year later opened for the Sex Pistols at San Francisco's Winterland. The band split up in 1979 though there have been several later reunions. From the promotional material: "The Nuns are part of the new wave of punk rock phenomenon that is taking the country by storm. A mint copy of the 30 from the édition de tête on pur fil Johannot numbered XXV in Roman numerals and with Tanguy's original etching also numbered XXV by ink. Only these one have the etching. The original wrappers for the book were designed especially for the first 230 'exemplaires de luxe' of the book, were executed after the maquette by Pierre Faucheux after Tanguy's original drawing.

Celui-ci le n° 15, bien signé par le poète, est l'un des 40 ex. de tête accompagné d'UNE SUITE SUR JAPON DES 11 PLANCHES COULEURS. Cette suite est conservée à part, dans une chemise de vélin d'Arches insérée en fin de volume. Conçu dès 1920 par le poète et le peintre et soutenu par Léonce Rosenberg, le projet d'édition sera interrompu par l'inaction du marchand d'art puis la disparition de Juan Gris en 1927. C'est finalement Tériade qui reprendra le manuscrit complet de Reverdy, 20 poèmes illustrés de 11 lithographies en couleurs reprenant au plus près les compositions originales du peintre cubiste. Magnifique. Les planches parfaites. Pâles reports de texte sur texte, comme généralement. L'emboitage très marginalement insolé.

Édition originale de la suite de 43 poèmes de Pierre Reverdy intitulée "Le Chant des Morts" conçue dès l'origine pour être illustrée par Picasso. À la vue du manuscrit l'artiste abandonne l'idée première de dessins hors-texte préférant orner l'écriture même du poète : "Picasso perçoit l'écriture large de Reverdy qui remplit les pages sans les encombrer, comme un arrangement de petits signes noirs qu'il va compléter par de grands signes rouges rappelant la calligraphie orientale. Le manuscrit est ainsi enluminé, ce qui confère au livre un caractère rituel, religieux…" (Patrick Cramer, 1983). Tirage : 270 (250 + XX) exemplaires sur vélin d'Arches signés au crayon par Pierre Reverdy et Picasso, celui-ci le n° 239.
