Francesco Greco nasce nel 1953 a Siderno in provincia di Reggio Calabria luogo in cui inizia i suoi studi artistici frequentando il Liceo Artistico Statale. Dal 1973 si forma presso l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera a Milano ed entra nell'ambiente artistico dell'epoca avviando la propria carriera presso la stamperia di Franco Sciardelli. Dopo la sua prima esibizione alla rassegna Brera 1971/1977 partecipa a varie edizioni della Triennale di Incisione di Milano alla Triennale dell'Incisione di Biella espone a diverse collettive presso la Galleria delle Ore e tiene peronali al Palazzo Sormani e a Chiasso. Nel corso degli anni Ottanta insegna presso il Liceo Artistico del comune di Milano e prosegue il suo percorso dedicando sempre maggior attenzione al lavoro di incisore. Collabora con Roberto Sanesi e realizza dei libri illustrati Attorno a oggetti variabili Milano Sibilo Edizioni 1983 e Alterego considera lo spazio Milano Upiglio 1987 di cui vengono esposte le sue opere alla mostra del 1994 I libri d'artista italiani del Novecento alla MoMA di New York.
