Nach Hallbergers Tod im Jahre 1880 ging sein Unternehmen in die Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt AG über. - Das uns vorliegende Exemplar stammt aus der "Hallberger-Zeit" 1873-1880. Die Illustrationen sind Zinkätzungen nach den Original-Holzschnitten. - "Gustav Doré führte die Hauptarbeit seines Lebens, die Bibelillustrationen, nur teilweise selber zu Ende; denn er lieferte nur die Skizzen, die eine unermüdliche Schar von Holzschneidern unter seiner Aufsicht auszuführen hatte, die, des Wertes ihrer Mitarbeit bewußt, ihren Namen stets angaben ..."(Thieme/Becker 9,468). - - - - Die Einbände tragen nur leichtere Alters- bzw. Shortly after she brought together other branches which stopped with her her work occupying her night and day her desires to acquire the esteem and confidence of everyone by her behaviour. His life was courageous in his travels firm in his projects bold in his expeditions but too sensitive to aggravating circumstances. The addressee is most likely the painter Hubert Armand Leleux 1818-1885 or his brother who was also a painter and illustrator Adolphe Pierre Leleux 1812-1891. Gustave Dor� was a good painter but not a good writer. There are many spelling mistakes and the punctuation is poor. It is therefore somewhat difficult to understand.
