Londonnd.: George Virtue This is an about very good hardcover two volume set in the original embossed light green cloth binding with gilt titles and cover vignettes with some wear. The covers have some soil and light small stains top and bottom edges of spines repaired. The gilt cover vignettes of the kneeling man praying in front of the Celtic cross are still bright as are the spine decorations of the harps and surrounding cartouches. Inside the text and plates are generally clean but there are tan moisture lines to the margins of most plates. This also affects the lower edge of the map coming over the border and into the 'Irish Sea' a bit. There are two small armorial bookplates one in each volume with the name Thomas Richardson printed and the number 20 written on each bookplate. The illustrations include the map frontispieces in both volumes and 60 plates in volume 1 58 plates in volume 2 for a total of 118 plates map and frontispieces. Text clean. All page-edges gilt. 11" high X 8 1/2" wide 170 and 186 pages. No dates in either volume. Ca. mid-19th century. These books will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking. Decorative Cloth. Very Good. George Virtue Hardcover
