Autre pays d'élection de Charlotte Perriand après le Japon, le Brésil, où elle se rend régulièrement de 1959 à 1970, occupe une place importante dans son univers. Elle y noue des liens d'amitié avec Lúcio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer et les grandes figures du milieu culturel progressiste. En 1963, elle commence une mission sur le développement de l'artisanat dans le Nordeste, interrompue par le coup d'État militaire.
