Jugendstil ou Art nouveau est un mouvement artistique qui était populaire dans divers endroits en Europe entre 1890 et 1914, principalement en réaction à l'impressionnisme qui s'estompe. L'Art nouveau se manifeste principalement dans les ustensiles (art du verre, livres, poteries, bijoux, meubles, etc.), l'architecture et la peinture. Le mouvement connut une apogée courte mais intense, qui s'étendit principalement à la Belle Époque. En Europe de l'Ouest le style appartenait déjà au passé bien avant 1910, à l'Est il a pu perdurer un peu plus longtemps.

Illustrated with two colour plates and numerous two-tone drawings in the text. The name & address of a previous owner are written on the endpaper. The book has some foxing to the page edges but internally clean & sound. The corners bumped but generally the book is in VG condition with no damage to the hinges or binding.
