Vancouver B.C.: Heavenly Monkey 2019. Jackson Martin. Tall quarto. 18 10pp. two tipped-in leaves. From an edition of 55 copies this is one of thirty comprising the "Printed" issue. Reprints Pollard's essay which first appeared in 1921 as the introduction to the catalogue of William Andrews Clark's Kelmscott and Doves collections printed by John Henry Nash. Pollard offers a summary of the typographical and aesthetic aims of both presses the common denominator of each being Emery Walker; this edition presents the opportunity to examine a specific example from each press-an example to which Pollard makes reference in his essay. The leaves included here are from the Kelmscott edition of The Golden Legend and The English Bible considered by many to be the masterpiece of the Doves Press. As Pollard also considers the use of ornament particularly by Doves so Heavenly Monkey has presented this text with calligraphic flourishes by Martin Jackson printed in red from polymer plates. With a "Note from the Printer" which examines several of Pollard's statements about margin and proportion. Bound in cloth backed boards that have been covered with acrylic paints. Paper spine and cover labels. A typically elegant and substantive work from Rollin Milroy's Press. Very fine. Heavenly Monkey unknown

Spater pragte er das Erscheinungsbild beruhmter Firmen und wurde schliesslich einer der erfolgreichsten Mobeldesigner. Non esistono forse estro e fantasia per i colori?... Ci sono in America cartelle di cento, di mille colori: ma uno squisito colorista - Campigli - ne adopera quattro (i suoi, inediti)...'. Non e' datata ma ma si colloca nel periodo tra il 1945 e il 1950. La prefazione e' a firma Gio' Ponti, che, della Ginori, fu direttore artistico tra il 1923 e il 1933. La monografia descrive la ripresa delle attivita' dopo il periodo bellico durante il quale gli stabilimenti di S. Cristoforo, Lambrate, Pisa, Doccia furono pesantemente danneggiati. Segue la descrizione delle attivita' nelle fabbriche di Doccia, San Cristoforo (sanitari), Pisa e Mondovi' (ceramiche decorate), Lambrate, Leghorn (isolanti elettrici), Sesto Fiorentino. Raro. "The fascinating saga told with pen and brush of a rural family in old Holland - the Poortvliets - going back ten generations to Cornelis Adriaensz who died in 1649. Characteristically evocative Poortvliet's work is remarkable in its ability to touch us. With equal skill he conveys the coziness of a comfortable house set in a bleak and brooding snowy landscape and the light-hearted revelry of a winter carnival. This book does not conjure up a romantic vision of the past - the Dutch countryside was not all tulips and windmills. There was hardship and hard work like that of the young cowherd seen here - an eight-year-old boy whose long and lonely day began at four o'clock in the morning and only ended when he returned home at six o'clock in the evening. We learn of the many Dutch families in the early days who endured the deaths of five ten or more babies and of their joy in those that survived. The author's colorful heritage traced back to the 1600s while it does not include rich and famous people does include characters and stories to rival those of a soap opera in their intricacy and human interest.
