"D" come design, ma anche come donna: designer, artiste, artigiane e imprenditrici hanno avuto un ruolo chiave nella ricca e densa storia del design italiano dal dopoguerra ai nostri giorni, stando al centro della scena come dietro le quinte. Negli anni in cui la cultura del progetto si stava affermando, l'apporto dell'universo femminile è stato essenziale sotto il profilo della creatività e dell'innovazione. Donne che si sono distinte nei settori più diversi, indicando nuove possibili strade: non solo disegno industriale e grafica, ma editoria, formazione, imprenditoria, fino al mondo delle tecnologie informatico-digitali. Progettiste che hanno saputo fare la differenza, lavorando in studi di progettazione, nelle redazioni e nelle università. La ricognizione sulle loro carriere ne sancisce autorialità e protagonismo, riconoscendone il coraggio di scelte spesso difficili e controcorrente. Attraverso il racconto delle loro vicende viene arricchita e completata la storia del design novecentesco, con nuove prospettive nei modi di leggere il ruolo della donna.

Frid 2017. Sul metodo/sui metodi. Esplorazioni per le identità del design
brossura Che senso ha, oggi, proporre una discussione sulle metodologie della ricerca in design, in un mondo di mutamenti rapidi e imprevedibili, in una situazione che sembra richiedere flessibilità e astuzia, intuizione e azzardo più che il rigore di strumenti consolidati? Per rispondere a queste domande, la terza edizione di Frid - Fare ricerca in design ha messo a confronto dottorandi, dottori di ricerca e studiosi sul tema dei metodi. Al plurale. Non per rincorrere modelli normativi, ma per esplorare i diversi modi di ricercare nei vari contesti e per individuare le sfaccettature nelle quali si mostra oggi la disciplina del design. Proprio nel momento del successo planetario del design, mentre la disciplina sembra avere contorni sempre più sfuggenti, il Forum affronta i temi della ricerca finalizzata a produrre nuova conoscenza nel campo del design. Attraverso i racconti dei giovani ricercatori - e con l'aiuto dei docenti, che si confrontano su parole chiave contrapposte - Frid prova a capire come il design, attraverso la ricerca e le sue pratiche, fissare i propri presupposti, il proprio campo di azione e, appunto, i propri metodi di lavoro. Metodi rigorosi, coerenti e precisi, ma al tempo stesso duttili e aperti di fronte alle trasformazioni di un mondo tanto diverso da quello delle origini della disciplina, alla metà del secolo scorso.
