The second pairing between Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland in which the two are members of a group of misfits seeking to fix up an amphibious plane in order to escape a society they find constricting. From Wikipedia: Fonda Sutherland and Boyle were active in anti-war activities when the film was made and as a result it did not receive wide release or much publicity. It remains memorable however for its oddball characters anti-establishment message and 1970s sensibilities. "Steelyard Blues" found a warm reception among college students and non-conformists. With a soundtrack by musicians Mike Bloomfield Paul Butterfield Nick Gravenites Maria Muldaur and others. Shot on location throughout California. Originally a radio play entitled "My Flesh My Blood" the stage production was incredible successful worldwide and soon was adapted to the American stage under the name "Keep it in the Family" where it ran on Broadway for five performances in 1967. The cinematography in the film version is perfect for the setting where filming was actual done in Bolton capturing the town in its transition from an industrial to a modern city. Ex-con Frank Darin meets his onetime nemesis the detective that put him in prison years ago. though they part friends he is immediately suspected when the detective is found murdered. The Ford Theatre radio program started in New York on NBC with Broadway actors then moved to Hollywood on CBS for a second season where Hollywood actors headed the cast. The first televised version of the series appeared 1948 as a live hour long drama as most of the programming of the era. A filmed half-hour Ford Theatre returned in 1951 and became the first network television series to be regularly filmed in color by October 1954. The final season aired on ABC for the 1956-57 season.
