Philadelphia:: David McKay 1962. 1st Edition. Hardbound. BINDING/CONDITION: blue cloth with gilt spine text; a Very Good book with a Good dust jacket; publisher's price on the jacket flap is intact. 8vo 8.25 inches tall. Bibliographies index. Description: Dust jacket design by James MacDonald. The publisher's blurb reads: ''Using a moment-by-moment approach to the events of those critical July days Mr. Bellah has created an impeccably documented and intensely dramatic work. From the outset Mr. Bellah determined on three approaches: that his book would be a living picture of the ferocity with which civilized men will fight -- at the right time and place -- for an ideology in which they believe utterly; that his book would be the personal story of the me who did the fighting; that the work would be based on the accounts of corporals sergeants lieutenants and captains and the thousands of sweating solders they manipulated. Rigid adherence to this design has produced a book as full of the sights sounds smells and terrors of war as the battle itself.'' James Warner Bellah 1899-1976 was a highly successful writer of pulp fiction primarily in the Western genre some of his stories were the basis for some outstanding John Ford / John Wayne pictures. This work is nonfiction. David McKay hardcover
