Irish-born clairvoyant and occult figure probably the best known "society palmist" of the early 20th century whose clients included many famous American and European figures of the day -- Mark Twain William Gladstone Grover Cleveland Mata Hari Thomas Edison and Oscar Wilde among them. Bold thick "With pleasure / Cheiro / Chicago / 24 Nov 97" in black ink on a heavy stock 3 3/4" X 2" card upper left and right corners clipped. Very good. Mark Twain's co-author for the 1873 novel "The Gilded Age" was a well-known and prolific essayist author editor and all-around man of letters; it was he not Twain who coined the phrase "Everybody complains about the weather but nobody does anything about it." On a 4�" X 7" lettersheet bearing his imprinted "Nook Farm / Hartford Conn." address Warner pens a handsome "With the compliments of / the New Year / Yours Sincerely" -- in purple ink no less -- signing in full and dating it 3 January 1893.
